BrokenJaw listen up:
I just bought Axis on Vinyl for 10 bucks. It was a classic, loved it. I am thinking about getting Electricladyland, Vinyl of course. Is that better than Axis, or will I just waste my money?

So far Axis is my favorite Hendrix album.

Castles made of Sand.

Down the street you can hear her scream "you're a disgrace"
As she slams the door in his drunken face,
And now he stands outside and all the neighbours start to gossip and drool.

He cries "Oh girl, you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?"
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green.

And so castles made of sand, fall in the sea, eventually.

A little Indian brave who before he was ten, played war games in
the woods with his Indian friends, and he built a dream that when he
grew up, he would be a fearless warrior Indian Chief.

Many moons passed and more the dream grew strong, until tomorrow
He would sing his first war song,
And fight his first battle, but something went wrong,
Suprise attack killed him in his sleep that night

And so castles made of sand, melts into the sea eventually.

There was a young girl, whose heart was a frown,
Because she was crippled for life, and couldn't speak a sound
And she wished and prayed she would stop living, so she decided to die.
She drew her wheel chair to the edge of the shore, and to her legs she smiled

"You won't hurt me no more."
But then a sight she'd never seen made her JUMP AND SAY
"Look, a golden winged ship is passing my way"
And it really didn't have to stop...it just kept on going.
And so castles made of sand slips into the sea,
Eventually

No Hendrix album is a waste of money, they're all classics.

Electric Ladyland is an incredible album... many of his best songs are on there, including "All Along the Watchtower", "Voodoo Chile", "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)", "Burning of the Midnight Lamp", "1983 (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)", and "Crosstown Traffic". You can never go wrong with a Hendrix album, I say get all of them. :-)

you can never waste your money if you are buying a Hendrix Album.

First of all I would like to know where you found it on vinyl, and do they have more?

Secondly, as far as buying Electric LadyLand you cannot go wrong with it. In MHO that is one of his best works ever.

Now if you truly want to get the full experience and open your musical mind to Jimi I suggest buying Are You Experienced, and any live concert CD you can get your hands on.

Vinyl of course.

Now don't get me wrong Vinyl is great but if you truly want to hear the music the way Jimi wanted us to hear it but it on CD. The re-mastered discs are amazing and they really do him justice.

I cannot say that Axis is better then Electric Ladyland or Are YOU Experienced is better then Axis or any other way you want to say it. All I can say is that they are all diffrent and all excellent. There is not a Hendrix song that I don't like. Even Little Miss Strange on ELL song by Noel Reading is a kick ass song. But if I were you I would also try to find more obscure recordings there are a shit load of them. Some of his greatest songs were never released until after his death. Like this one for example....

BELLY BUTTON WINDOW

Well, I'm up here in this womb
I'm looking all around (hmm, hmm, hmm)
Well, I'm looking out my Belly Button Window
And I see a whole lot of frowns
And I'm wondering if they don't want me around

What seems to be the fuss out there?
Just what seems to be the hang?
’Cause you know if ya just don't want me this time around,
yeah I’ll be glad to go back to Spirit Land
And even take a longer rest,
before I'm coming down the chute again
Man I sure remember the last time, baby,
they were still hawkin’ about me then
So if you don't want me now,
make up your mind, where or when
If you don't want me now,
give or take, you only got two hundred days
’Cause I ain’t coming down this way too much more again

You know they got pills for ills and thrills and even spills,
but I think you’re just a little too late
So I'm coming down into this world, Daddy,
regardless of love and hate
And I'm gonna sit up in your bed, Mama (huh),
and just a-grin right in your face
And then I'm gonna eat up all your choclates (huh),
and say ‘I hope I'm not too late’

So if there's any questions,
make up your mind
’Cause you better give or take
questions in your mind
Give it a take,
you only got two hundred days

Way up into this womb,
looking all around
Sure’s dark in here!
And I'm looking out my Belly Button Window
And I swear I see nothing but a lot of frowns
And I'm wondering if they want me around . . .

BrokenJaw,

Thanks for your advice, and everyone else infact.

I got the Vinyl at Scotti's Records in Morristown.
It was a diamond in the rough and the only Hendrix one in the bin. They have other classics from other great bands. The next day I bought "The Wall" by Floyd for only 10 bucks.

Looking at your profile, you seem to live pretty near to Vintage Vinyl in Woodbridge, at least closer than I am when I'm not at Rutgers. Check that place out. That store is big and not commericalized like Sam Goody, so it might be a bit cheaper.

Here's another essential Jimi album

Not with the Experience, with Buddy Miles and Billy Cox....it's a live recording from New Year's Eve 1969 at Filmore East, totally amazing is all I can say about it, esp. Machine Gun

So blow our mind and make it lazy

I hold the wheel to let it go
Don't wanna stop, don't wanna know
If it gets you down, well just don't blame me

If only we're nothing at all

Joe the place is still there and you can still record there. I went there 2 years ago just to see it. I was in awe. The place is amazing. There are pics of Jimi and a beautiful mural done of him.
