Does anyone here use a satellite connection to the Internet? I live in a remote area with no access to DSL or cable. I get TV from DIRECTV and am considering using a small dish to access the Internet. I have done the research and realize what the costs are. I see how the upload and download speeds rate but, they are great (on paper) compared to a 56K modem.

I am hoping to find out from someone who has used a satellite dish or knows someone how has a satellite dish connection and get a real opinion.

Thanks

Well a friend of mine had a satellite connection and absolutely hated it. Not only was it as expensive as all hell but his connection was not much faster than 56K. Mind you, this was out in CA so the company would probably be different. The best thing to do is call a provider and ask them for the full price-installation, equipment, service, and all. Also ask for average connection speeds. They should be more than happy to answer your questions. :)

Let us know how you make out Mr. Hern. I been considering getting a dish for my car. I hate wasting all that time commuting when I could be posting.
