Well it looks like Eric Lindros is back to his old style of play rather quickly.

All the reports out of Team Canada's mini-camp say that he is nothing short of spectacular, excellent no-look passes, his line (with Primeau and Nolan) leads in scrimmage scoring, the guy is fast, it looks like he hasn't lost a thing...

But check out THIS interesting article. It truly is going to take at least a year to evaluate this trade. The only question now is not whether Lindros has lost anything (he clearly hasn't other than a large number of brain cells), but has he LEARNED anything?

-----

By ROBIN BROWNLEE -- Edmonton Sun

CALGARY -- Brenden Morrow could have been front page headlines this
week, and he more than likely would have been, had the same
opportunity come a month from now.

Instead, the tough, young winger from the Dallas Stars passed on 15
seconds of infamy when he was passed on the chance to knock Eric
Lindros into orbit at Father David Bauer Arena.

The rugged 22-year-old, one of the best bangers in the NHL and a
forward who doesn't need a written invitation to unload on somebody,
had the chance to give it to the Big E during a scrimmage at Team
Canada's orientation camp, but scrambled out of the way as Lindros
roared by with his head down.

"Probably not. No," smiled Morrow, asked if he'd have stepped aside
if this was October. " I know what you're talking about, right across
the middle of the ice.

"Probably that would be something that I'd finish the check, but I'd
probably be going down running into him ... I don't usually get out of
the way."

Morrow, a fire hydrant-like five-foot-11 and 210 pounds, led all
Dallas forwards with 230 hits last season, and he's also coach Ken
Hitchcock's fastest forward, outside of maybe Mike Modano.

That's a lethal combination, especially when you consider he's here
to impress and win a roster spot for the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake
and that his first inclination is to hit everything that moves.

So, along came Lindros with his head down, as usual, with Team White
scrimmaging against Team Red, and there in the open ice was Morrow,
who literally had to step out of the way to avoid crushing No. 88 and
becoming the story of this camp.

"I've had to catch myself a couple of times wanting to drop the
shoulder on somebody, but you have to lay off right now," said Morrow.

"It's been about two months now of summer where you haven't done it,
so it's not that hard. You want to get back into it, but this isn't
the place for it."

For obvious reasons, physical play has been at a minimum here, and
that doesn't make it easier for players like Morrow and Ryan Smyth of
the Edmonton Oilers to stand out. Crashing and banging is a big part
of their chemistry.

Likewise for Scott Stevens, who laid the wicked lick on Lindros that
put him out of commission last time. Stevens, Morrow and Smyth all
played on Team Red, Lindros on Team White.

"I'm more bump-and-grind, finish my checks and play in the corners,"
said Morrow. "Nobody is going to play it like that right now, so it
makes it a little different."

"Look how hot they're getting. And that's an old picture," Anthony says.

Why does this not suprise me? I was wodering how long it would take him to start skating with his head down again....I honestly didn't think he'd be able to play any other way. This is a problem that should've been corrected years ago. I don't think he'll ever learn to play with his head up. Okay, who's in on the pool of when he's gonna get knocked out first? I give him to October 9th.

Ranger fans, it's gonna be a looooooooooooooong season....I feel for ya guys, I really do. I've spent years watching this guy piss his potential away. Now I can only say thank God he's your problem now ;)

thanks for the find wpp :)

I'm insane and you're my insanity

I'm going crazy, a little every day, and everything I wanted is now driving me away, I woke this morning to the sound of beating hearts, mine is full of questions and it's tearing yours apart...

If he skates with his head down this season, he deserves to get hit. Hopefully he won't get injured or worse, but you have to knock some sense into him and teach him to keep his head up.

Maybe Lindros will learn; or maybe he will be a casualty of his own stupidity and die for his mistake.

Someone's going to crank him this season, Lindros is going to go into convulsions, swallow his fucking tongue - it will top Malarchuk for sure.

He really is playing with fire, and I'm beginning to think it's only a matter of time before something nasty happens. He could even pull a LaFontaine and run into one of his own teammates (for his sake I hope it won't be Sandy McCarthy!) like he did with Paul Coffey years ago.

Should be interesting, but as much as I'm tempted by these stories of him being in shape, I won't draft this guy in my hockey pool!

His only hope is that he was hotdogging because he knew no one would hit him (Brendan Morrow was hardly being a pussy, in this scrimage Lindros IS his teammate. He wouldn't do the same thing if it were a game situation).

For all the "training" that he did and attempts to keep his head up, the guy just isn't learning.

If you are a Ranger fan, Fleury's apparently quite anxious and hungry to play and has also been doing fairly well.
