NFL BREAKDOWN- WEEK 2- SEPTEMBER 23,24, 2001

New York Giants (0-1) at Kansas City Chiefs (0-1)
I expect the Giants to come out and play a much better and sound football game this Sunday. Emotions will be running high and I think the Giants are destined to play a good football game and come on top. Arrowhead Stadium is one of the toughest stadiums to play in the NFL, but the fact is, the Chiefs aren't a very good football team. The Giants are a better team and they should play well coming off everything that has happened, and considering the fact that they really need this one.
SCORE: Giants 27 Chiefs 13

New York Jets (0-1) at New England Patriots (0-1)
The Jets are in a similar situation as the Giants here this week. Both coming off the emotional lows of last week, both coming off Week 1 defeats, and both on the road against teams that they should beat, but could still pose a threat. I expect a much better performance this week from the Jets, than the one given in their pittiful Week 1 defeat to the Colts. The Patriots lost to the Bengals in Week 1 and could be in for a long season up in Foxboro. The Pats will probably stay in this one, but the Jets are a better football team and will pull this one out. If things go the Jets way, I wouldnt be surprised if this is a romp.
SCORE: Jets 34 Patriots 20

Buffalo Bills (0-1) at Indianapolis Colts (1-0)
The Worst Team in the AFC East travels to the best Team in the AFC East, and this one could get ugly. The Colts showed in Week 1 at the Meadowlands that they are going to be a force to be wreckoned with in not only the AFC East, but the entire Conference and league in General. No team puts a 3 man attack out their like the Colts do with Manning, James, and Harrison. This one could get real ugly.
SCORE: Colts 45 Bills 17

Oakland Raiders (1-0) at Miami Dolphins (1-0)
This is a very good matchup in Week 2 and is another test for Miami. They passed with flying colors in Week 1 when they beat up on the Titans in Tennessee. The Raiders squeaked out a victory on the road in Kansas City in Week 1. This should be the most competitive game of the day and should be decided in the final minutes. I think however, The Raiders are the better football team and I would trust Rich Gannon down the stretch over Jay Fiedler and the strong leg of Sebastian Janikowski could be the difference maker in what should be a hell of a Football game.
SCORE: Raiders 19 Dolphins 17

Tennessee Titans (0-1) at Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0)
Alot of people are down on the Titans after Week 1, and the Jaguars are actually favored in this football game. It looks like Neil O' Donnell will get the nod at Quarterback over the ailing Steve McNair. Ive been high on the Jaguars during the preseason and pick them as a team that people should watch out for in the AFC. However, I wouldnt count out the Titans. They have something to prove after their miserable performance in Week 1. The Titans have the Jaguars number in recent years, and I think they will pull this one out. It should be close, but Ill go with the Titans to get a big one that they need here.
SCORE: Titans 24 Jaguars 21

Baltimore Ravens (1-0) at Cincinnati Bengals (1-0)
The defending Superbowl Champions did not look very stellar in their opening week win against the Bears 17-6. That game showed proof that the Ravens are still very much lacking on offense. The Bengals had a nice opening week win over the Patriots, and I expect the Bengals to be up for this game. The Bengals may be improved this year. Actually of course they will, its hard to get any worse than the franchise has been over the past decade. They still arent a playoff contender, but they may surprise a few people. I expect the Bengals to be very competitive in this game, and I give them the chance to pull out the upset. But I am still going to go with the Ravens to win a nailbiter, but this game might be alot closer than people might initially think.
SCORE: Ravens 16 Bengals 13

Carolina Panthers (1-0) at Atlanta Falcons (0-1)
The Panthers are coming off a very impressive Week 1 in which Chris Weinke had a stellar performance in knocking off the Vikings in Minnesota. Atlanta had a dissapointing week, as they blew a game they should have won in San Francisco. These teams are very evenly matched, but I think the Falcons are going to pull this one out. If Weinke and company play as good as they did in Minnesota, they will win this Football game, but I cant expect that out of them again. The Panthers have a chance, and if they do they may be a team that turns a few heads, but the Falcons should edge them out here.
SCORE: Falcons 29 Panthers 23

Detroit Lions (0-1) at Cleveland Browns (0-1)
This is an interesting interconference matchup and should be a very competitive one. The Browns usually do not have good chances to win Football games. They do in this one. However I dont think they will win it. I expect this game to be a nailbiter right to the end, just like the Browns first game against Seattle was, but The Lions will pull it out and send Cleveland to another defeat.
SCORE: Lions 20 Browns 10

Minnesota Vikings (0-1) at Chicago Bears (0-1)
The Vikings are going to be a team on a mission after their embarassing defeat in Week 1 at the hands of Carolina. Minnesota may not be the team they have been over the past few years, but they are still dangerous on the offensive side of the ball and that should be too much for the Bears to handle.
SCORE: Vikings 31 Bears 17

San Diego Chargers (1-0) at Dallas Cowboys (0-1)
The team that is going to be the team to look out for this year is the Chargers. They are highly improved especially with Flutie at the helm at Quarterback. They have a very easy schedule and are going to be right up their in the AFC Playoff hunt. The Cowboys will have not a sniff of anything concerning the playoffs, but they did play a good game against Tampa Bay in their First game and if they had any kind of mediocrity from their Quarterback they would have won. The Cowboys are going to win a couple of games this year, but this week isn't one of them.
SCORE: Chargers 23 Cowboys 13

St. Louis Rams (1-0) at San Francisco 49ers (1-0)
This could be a fun shootout at Candlestick Park between two explosive offenses. The 49ers should stay right in this game and this one should go down to the wire as well. Whatever defense shows up in this game and hold the other under 30 points will win it. I think the Rams will hold on and give a heartbreaker to the Niners here. A shootout is definetly expected.
SCORE: Rams 34 49ers 30

Philadelphia Eagles (0-1) at Seattle Seahawks (1-0)
This is another game that should be very competitive. Philly needs this game as they do not want to go 0-2 after losing their heartbreaker against the Rams in Week 1. The Seahawks have a win under their belt already and will not be as hungry as the Eagles. The Eagles will be the hungrier team, and they are the better team. Seattle is at home, but they dont have much of a home field anyway, playing at the University of Washington. The Eagles will win this game they have to have.
SCORE: Eagles 30 Seahawks 16

Denver Broncos (1-0) at Arizona Cardinals (0-0)
A Big mismatch is on slate for Sunday Night Football and it could get ugly. The Cardinals make their season debut and they should be very rusty after not playing in nearly a month. And its not going to be a great test for them having to play Denver. Even without Terrell Davis or Ed McCaffrey, the Broncos should not break much of a sweat in the dessert.
SCORE: Broncos 27 Cardinals 9

Washington Redskins (0-1) at Green Bay Packers (1-0)
Not the greatest of Monday Night games here. The Redskins are not going to be a very good football team, and I am still not high on the Packers, despite their Week 1 win against the Lions. I think the Packers will pull this one out, but I dont think they will go away it.
SCORE: Packers 23 Redskins 17

Your picks arent looking too good FB. Damn those vikings are gonna blow ass this year. And tennessee 0-2?? Wow! Big win by the G-MEN!! and my other team, the Dolphins, look really impressive so far, although its only 2 games.

Also, when Cleveland wins, you know that your picks are gonna suffer, so I dont blame anyone, including you FB, for having an off week with picks.

Hey what do you want from me? I was 8-5 picking winners. and 9-4 against the Spread, not too shabby.

I almost had the exact score to 49ers-Rams, and Colts-Bills, and I predicted the Bengals could pull off the upset.

Im not Perfect as is absolutely nobody when it comes to picking football games, but I did fairly well this week

I forgot the sarcasm tags. But who would have thought those teams would be 2-0 already. Chargers in 2 games doubled their win total for last year.

Well the Chargers should be 2-0.

They are a better team than Washington and they pounded them, And they beat one of the worst teams in the NFL in Dallas.

Sure the Bengals had their upset win over Baltimore, but they beat the Patriots who showed yesterday against the Jets how pathethic of a Football team they are.

The Patriots will be lucky to win 4 games this year.

I always wanted to play in a Division with the Bengals and Browns, where you get 4 easy wins a year.

Well now we have that, the Bills and Patriots.

That reminds me of the quote of the game. Watching the CBS telecast when Bledsoe came out. CBS checked with sidelines, and they (Patriots)said that Bledsoe wasn't injured, it was just that Brady was the quarterback they wanted in the game. Dierdoff responded - "Never trust anything they tell you from the sidelines".
