Beginnings are scary. Endings are usually sad, but it's what's in the middle that counts. So, when you find yourself at the beginning, just give hope a chance to float up. And it will.

And I thought Opie was an Islander Fan.

I was in the car. put on 1130 for Rangers. switched to 66 for Mets. Finally I got smart, and put on R&F.
Well, at least Erica didn't get injured.

Well, all things considered, I'd say not too bad a start for the Rangers. If it weren't for those 2 quick goals by the 'Canes within the first 3 mintues of the game the Rangers would've had a shot. They came out flat and it cost them but they played well. The power play was good, they moved the puck around well. Lindwuss and Berard looked sharp. Theo's back in good form. The lines seem to be working well together. Only thing I noticed was that Nedved didn't look so good. Messier's power play goal in the 3rd was sweet. I guess we'll see how they do at home vs the Sabres on Sunday...so far so good.

Zdeno Ciger's one to watch too. I still have a feeling that he's flying under the radar, but he had a couple of close chances tonight.

I was pretty surprised that he ended up on the top line with Lindros and Fleury, but if they start clicking he can definitely contribute, and if/when Lindros goes down they can just move Nedved up to center those two.

They really didn't look too impressive though, maybe I was clouded by those early goals?

I was catching bits and pieces of the other games on tonight too. Osgood looked good. Just judging from these two games I would almost say the Isles have a better shot at the playoffs than the Rangers do! The blueshirts need to get clicking!

(Did anyone else notice that Berard looked pretty confortable out there - didn't look like he was overtly missing assignments or anything)

Thank you to all the brave volunteers who brought us all together as a country,

you obviously dont have high hopes for this team. Playing well for the last period when your losing 3-0 and the game is over, is NOT a Good Game. Giving up 2 Goals in the First 2 1/2 minutes of the game is not good. Giving up the Puck and getting out worked is NoT Good!!

On a Scale of 1 to 10 judging by happiness about this game, I give it a -8

seeing another sabres-rangers garden opener brings back memories of another game between these two. nyr home opener in 1995, cup at center ice, mess comes out, picks it up, skates with team to celebrate the championship they won the previous spring..... and the sabres won 4-1. lmmfaorotfl :) (and i know that at least you won a cup in the 90's and all that bullshit, that's not the point, it was a funny game, ok?)

Im pretty sure the score was 2-1 in that game. ANd the Rangers dominated but Grant Fuhr stood on his head for Buffalo.

Its great that you take such enjoyment about our losses from 6 years ago.

If I remember correctly that year the Islanders had the 2nd worst record in the League, which was actually a good year for them considering some of the Last Overall finishes the past couple of years. And the Rangers were in the 2nd Round of the Playoffs.

Rangers score first, Lindros gets 1st as Ranger.
Lead is short lived, as Berard gives up puck.

Rangers down 3-1, Sandy McCarthy starts fight, spurs team.

Rangers go ahead 4-3; Sabres tie it.
Leetch gets GWG in OT;
Final, Rangers 5 Sabres 4

By the way, for those who didn't watch,
Sabres wore White sweater with "New York" down the front; Rangers wore Blue sweater with "New York"; they will be auctioned tomorrow and donated to Twin Tower fund.

francine, i was recalling a past rangers/sabres matchup, and the isles' only last-place finish recently was last year. why don't you shut up for a change and not take everything so fucking literally.

My take on the Lindros deal is up on foundry under the columns section. Pretty much, it was a self-serving deal by Sather, but hey, they actually won a game already.
