NFL BREAKDOWN- WEEK 4- OCTOBER 7, 2001

Washington Redskins (0-3) at New York Giants (2-1)
The rivalry here between the Giants and Skins is still there but it loses some of its luster due to the fact that the Skins are an outright awful Football Team. Their first 3 weeks could not have gotten any worse, and it just might get worse heading to Giants Stadium against a very good Giants football team. The Giants might be in for a little let down after their win last week against a tough Saints football team, and with the questionable status of Tiki Barber this probably wont be the Blowout that it could have been. The Giants should win this football game with alot of ease, but dont be surprised if the Giants play down a bit to the Redskins level.
SCORE: Giants 23 Redskins 10

New York Jets (2-1) at Buffalo Bills (0-3)
One thing is for sure, If the Jets are going to do anything this year and make any type of playoff run, they better come out to play this Sunday against Buffalo. The Jets have put up 3 stinkers this year and if it wasnt for a lousy game played by a lousy football team in New England, the Jets would easily be 0-3 right now. Speaking of lousy football teams, that's exactly what Buffalo is. Rob Johnson playing or not, the Bills are not going to win many football games. If the Jets finally start resembling some sort of organization on that field and are in tune they could win this game big. I wouldn't be surprised if its a blowout in the Jets favor. But I will stick to it conservatively. The Jets will probably look weak in many areas again, but just like the New England game, they should squeak one out against an inferior football team.
SCORE: Jets 24 Bills 14

Tennessee Titans (0-2) at Baltimore Ravens (2-1)
What an intriguing game this is going to be. Who would have thought that the team that alot of people thought would be heading to the Superbowl this year would be 0-2 and facing a game against the Super Bowl Champions in their own backyard. The Ravens are coming off a humongous and very impressive win in Denver where its almost impossible to win. The Titans are coming off a bye and they need this one in a bad way. This should be the Game of the Day and a very good football game featuring two teams that want to beat another badly. I think the motivation factor is slightly on the side of the Titans as they can not afford to be 0-3, and they have revenge on their mind after last year's playoff ousting at the hands of the Ravens. Im taking the Titans here to get that revenge in what should be a tight tight football game that could go either way.
SCORE: Titans 20 Ravens 17

San Diego Chargers (3-0) at Cleveland Browns (2-1)
When you go 1-15 in a football season, it usually means that your schedule will be very favorable the next year. That explains the Chargers starting out with 3 wins against the Redskins, Cowboys, and Bengals. Now the Chargers meet up with the lowly Browns. But wait a minute, They may not be so lowly anymore? With a little luck and a little better effort in Game 1,the Browns could be right up with the Chargers at 3-0. Instead, the Browns are 2-1 and coming off a great road divisional win in Jacksonville. Could the Browns be 3-1? Or could the Chargers be 4-0? Well one of those unimaginable things is going to happen, and Im taking the Browns here at home. The Chargers are due to be slowed down, and the Browns win in Jacksonville last week was more impressive than any of the Chargers 3 victories.
SCORE: Browns 22 Chargers 16

Arizona Cardinals (0-2) at Philadelphia Eagles (2-1)
Well the NFC East race has already axed 3 teams from it. The Redskins, Cowboys, and Cardinals may not combine to have the victories that the Eagles and Giants will wind up with alone. And if they do, its only going to be because they have to get wins by playing each other. The Eagles are home to face the usually pathethic Cardinals, and the Cards didnt help erase that monicher with two bad home losses to start the season. Again I think the Eagles wont be up for this game that much, but it won't matter. It Might not be the blowout it could be, but the Eagles will have no trouble stopping the Cards.
SCORE: Eagles 27 Cardinals 13

Chicago Bears (1-1) at Atlanta Falcons (2-1)
The good news last week for Atlanta is that they ripped apart Arizona to go to 2-1. The bad news is that Jamal Anderson is out for the year and so goes Atlanta's faint run at a Playoff spot this year. The Falcons yearly decline could start as early as this week against a well rested Bears team, that has not played badly at all this year. They beat the Vikings in Week 2, and stood in there with the Super Bowl Champion Ravens on opening week in Baltimore. Im going with Chicago to walk out of Atlanta with a solid hard earned victory.
SCORE: Bears 30 Falcons 19

Cincinnati Bengals (2-1) at Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1)
The Bengals started off well at 0-2 but fell short to San Diego this week. The Steelers rebounded from a bad performance in Week 1 for a solid team effort victory last week in Buffalo. Now the Steelers open up their new Stadium, Heinz Stadium. And their is no way that a team like Cincinnati, who is improved, but still a mediocre at very best football team, is going into Pittsburgh and beating a solid Steelers team in their Stadium Opener. This one should be all Pittsburgh.
SCORE: Steelers 24 Bengals 6

Minnesota Vikings (1-2) at New Orleans Saints (1-1)
The Vikings got a game last week that they had to have against Tampa Bay. The Saints lost a hard fought game against the Giants. This should be a very well played football game and an entertaining football game to watch. With Brooks and Caulpepper running and gunning this game should have its share of points. But when it comes down to it, The Saints are a better football team and are playing their Home Opener. They will win the Football Game.
SCORE: Saints 33 Vikings 24

New England Patriots (1-2) at Miami Dolphins (2-1)
The Patriots shocked everybody last week by not only beating the Colts, but spanking them in the process 44-13. The Dolphins came back down to reality last week and they got a hard lesson in reality tought to them by the Rams in St. Louis. These teams should return to their regular seasonal routes this week with Miami heading up and New England heading down.
SCORE: Dolphins 24 Patriots 3

Kansas City Chiefs (1-2) at Denver Broncos (2-1)
Similar situation in this game to the Patriots-Dolphins game. The Chiefs ripped apart the dreadful Redskins, while the Broncos lost a tough game at home to the Ravens. Once again, these teams go back to their regular seasonal patterns this week. The Broncos are angry after having a team come onto their turf and beat them, the Chiefs are going to be in some trouble this weekend.
SCORE: Broncos 41 Chiefs 17

Jacksonsville Jaguars (2-1) at Seattle Seahawks (1-2)
This should be an evenly contested game between two evenly matched teams. The Seahawks are at home, but playing at the University of Washington doesnt really strike fear into the visitors. The Jaguars did not look very well at all in losing at home to Cleveland, and Seattle got spanked in Oakland against the Raiders. This one is a toss up but I like Seattle to break their 2 game losing streak and win this one, but it's anybody's game here.
SCORE: Seahawks 20 Jaguars 17 (OT)

Green Bay Packers (3-0) at Tampa Bay Bucs (1-1)
I know that the Packers have been very impressive to start the season with their 3-0 record and the Bucs have not been very impressive at all, in barely beating the Cowboys and then losing to the Vikings. But now the Bucs are home for their Home Opener. That crowd is going to be rocking and this is a very tough spot for the Packers, just like it was a very tough spot for Tampa last week going into Minnesota. If Green Bay can pull this game out in Tampa then you will know for sure that Green Bay is for real and a force to be wreckoned with in the NFC. The Pack may be back, but not back all the way just yet. Tampa wins this game.
SCORE: Bucs 23 Packers 13

Dallas Cowboys (0-3) at Oakland Raiders (2-1)
An 18 point spread is not very common in the National Football League, but that is the case here and it is very warranted. If the Raiders play a full 60 minutes they should have no problem covering this spread. Last week when the Eagles beat up on the Cowboys, the Eagles stopped playing in the 2nd Half or else that game could have been 60-6. Expect a very ugly First Half and total domination in this complete mismatch.
SCORE: Raiders 40 Cowboys 13

Carolina Panthers (1-2) at San Francisco 49ers (2-1)
The 49ers may be on the verge of making a serious playoff run. They were fortunate last week that the Jets played a miserable football game or else they may not have come out with a victory there. It was absolutely amzing the fact that the Niners for pretty much 60 minutes, absolutely dominated the Jets on both ends of the Football, and only won the game by 2 points. The Panthers got a spark in a Week 1 upset in Minnesota, but have crashed back to reality with consecutive losses to Atlanta and Green Bay. The Panthers have the ability to keep this close, but its going to take too much for them to overtake the Niners. One thing is for sure, if the Niners are going to be playoff contenders in the NFC, they must win this game.
SCORE: 49ers 24 Panthers 6

St. Louis Rams (3-0) at Detroit Lions (0-2)
The line in this game is shockingly high. Sure the Rams are arguably the best team in all of Football, and the most explosive team. And the Lions were less than stellar in their losses to Green Bay and Cleveland. But this is Monday Night Football. This game is in the Pontiac Silverdome and is the Home Opener for the Lions. Ty Detmer cant throw any more interceptions in this game then he did last time. Now Im not saying the Lions will win this game, because they most likely won't. But They should keep it close and hang in their with the powerful Rams.
SCORE: Rams 33 Lions 27

Why cant you do this in the NFL predictions thread? Just do your analysis there and predict. How hard is that?? Because you are encouraging everyone to post their own thoughts in their own thread every week.

Tell that to Washington FB, who got destroyed by Green Bay at home on Monday Night.

First off know your facts, They got killed in Green Bay not at home.

Second off, This is not a predictions thread. Its a fuckin Analysis thread, for the games.

The other predictions thread. Is just 15 people listing 15 teams.

If I posted in that thread then nobody would even read this because its old by then.

This is also a thread to discuss the weekly games after they have happened. So deal with it.

My Record is
23-18-2 against the Spread

28-15 Picking Winners.

Sorry bout that FB, the fact of my comment thoguh was that the game couldve been played in Mexico, and the Packers still wouldve blown them out.

What makes you believe that anyone cares about what you think of the games? ;)

I must say, the last seven matchups (including playoffs) between the Bucs and the Pack, the home team won. So history is on Red & Pewter's side today.

If you dont like it then stay out of the thread dick.

Go to the other thread and just scroll down and list teams if you want it that badly.

Maybe next week I will title it NFL Week 5 Chat Thread. So that you can sleep well at night.

Hey FB, you asshole, my comment was sarcastic. Notice the face at the end of it. I was just joking, a concept that your serious ass doesnt really understand that well. Nearly all of your posts are either trying to prove somebody wrong, or just trying to be a smartass.

I was away for the weekend, and I forgot to post it on Friday Night. I remembered on Saturday afternoon in my car going upstate.

I did pick the Giants that spread was way too high and I like the Jets today against Miami because they have their number and the Jets have to play a good game some time. They arent going to play 5 shitty games in a row.
