The Boston Bruins traded star holdout Jason Allison and left wing Mikko
Eloranta to the Los Angeles Kings for center Jozef Stumpel and right wing
Glen Murray, ESPN hockey contributor Bob McKenzie reported
Wednesday.

The Kings have signed Allison to a three-year deal worth $20 million,
McKenzie reports. Allison will earn $5.5 million this season, $6.5 million
next season and $8 million in the final year of the contract.

Allison initially asked the Bruins for a three-year deal worth $8 million, $8.5 million, and
$9 million per season. The Bruins countered with $5.5 million, $6 million, and $6.5
million.

Allison, 26, led the Bruins with 95 points last season, including 36 goals, and was fourth
in the NHL in scoring.

But he broke off contract negotiations in September and said he'd never play for Boston
again after the team refused to give him what he believed was his market value. In
October, the team reportedly offered $4.5 million annually.

Bruins general manager Mike O'Connell has said Allison was asking for more than he
was worth.

Stumpel, 28, began his career with Boston, and had a team-high 76 points during the
1996-97 season before the Bruins traded him to the Kings. He had 16 goals and 39
assists for Los Angeles last season.

Murray, 27, was traded from Boston to Pittsburgh after the 1995-96 season after
playing parts of the four season with the Bruins. He was traded to the Kings in 1996,
and in the 1999-2000 season posted a career-high 62 points (29 goals, 33 assists).

I was waiting for Sean to drop him.

I didnt like it for Boston. I feel they could have waited a bit longer for a team to get more desperate and offer a better package than Stumpel and Murray.

Allison is a bonifide All Star and Potential Superstar in this league.

Getting rid of Allison, big mistake on the Bruins part. I say u give the guy the money hes worth and thats that. But now hell help some other team win and the Bruins will be dead in the water. wel not dead in the water but not as good.
