NFL BREAKDOWN- WEEK 7- OCTOBER 28, 2001

Indianapolis Colts (2-3) at Kansas City Chiefs (1-5)
The Colts looked to be one of the teams to beat in the AFC early on but have struggled since and have been embarrased twice by the Patriots of all times. Jim Mora has to be on the Hot Seat in Indy as their is too much talent on that team to be in the position they are in this year, and coming off an underachieving year last year. The Chiefs usually are very good at Home, but the Chiefs usually put out better Teams than this one. Dick Vermeil may wish he stayed retired once this year is over, and the Colts should get things together here and win this one to get to .500.
SCORE: Colts 24 Chiefs 13

New York Jets (3-3) at Carolina Panthers (1-5)
The Jets are coming off yet another miserable performance when they were embarrased by St. Louis. The Jets have looked far from impressive this year but have managed to attain a 3-3 record. The Panthers are on a 5 game losing streak and have very little positive going for them. Wayne Chrebet will miss this game and that will hurt the already limited offense that the Jets have. The Jets are fortunate enough to be playing a team like Carolina where yet again, the Jets can put up a subpar performance and still walk away with a win and thats what I think will happen. I dont think the Jets will play a great game but they will do enough, just like they did in New England and Buffalo, to get the win.
SCORE: Jets 20 Panthers 13

New York Giants (3-3) at Washington Redskins (1-5)
The Giants are coming off a very bad Monday Night loss to Philly in which they let the game get away. The Skins are coming off their First Win of the Year. Earlier in the year, Washington played the Giants tough at Giants Stadium but fell short. The Giants are a much better team than the Skins and will be ready to play after their Monday Night performance. But playing in Washington is no easy task. I expect the Skins to give the Giants a battle again just like they did last time. And Just like last time, the Giants will pull it out.
SCORE: Giants 23 Redskins 16

Jacksonville Jaguars (2-3) at Baltimore Ravens (3-3)
The Jaguars looked great to begin the year, but have looked awful in their 3 straight losses. The Ravens have something to prove. The Defending Superbowl Champions have not looked that way in their first 6 games of the season, which include losses to the Bengals and Browns. The Ravens are poised to go on a run and their Defense should shut down the Jaguars and this should be a rather easy win for the Ravens.
SCORE: Ravens 23 Jaguars 3

Minnesota Vikings (3-3) at Tampa Bay Bucs (2-3)
The Vikings made a statement last week that they are not going to go away when they pummeled the Packers in Minnesota. The Bucs made a statement that they might not even be a Playoff Team, nevermind a Superbowl Team when they lost at home to Pittsburgh. A couple of weeks back, the Vikings beat the Bucs in a game they had to have in Minnesota. Its the opposite situation in Tampa, and I like the Bucs to get their revenge from earlier in the season and their revenge from their bitter home loss of a week ago.
SCORE: Bucs 24 Vikings 13

Cincinnati Bengals (3-3) at Detroit Lions (0-5)
The Lions have played tough their past 2 weeks but just fell short to Minnesota and Tennessee respectively, Its about time the Lions get off the snide and this week should be it. The Bengals have come down to Earth lately and looked like the Bengals of old last week in getting shutout at home by Chicago. The Silverdome is a tough place to play and the Lions are hungry to get into that win column, and they should do that this week against the Bengals.
SCORE: Lions 30 Bengals 21

San Francisco 49ers (4-1) at Chicago Bears (4-1)
Turn back the clock to the 80's. Its a Big Time Showdown between the (4-1) 49ers and the (4-1) Bears at Soldier Field. The Bears have been one of the most exciting and juciest teams in the league this year. Their only loss was opening week when they stood in there with the Ravens in Baltimore. The 49ers are one of the more explosive teams on offense in the league, while the Bears have been very solid on Defense. This should be a great clash, and I feel the Home Field will play a factor in giving the Bears a win here and getting them to a remarkable 5-1.
SCORE: Bears 20 49ers 17 (OT)

New Orleans Saints (3-2) at St. Louis Rams (6-0)
This is a rematch from last year's Playoffs when the Saints sent St. Louis home in the First Round. The Saints struggled last week in a very dissapointing Home loss to the Falcons, while the Rams continue to roll as the League's Best Team. The Spread in this game is way too high at 12 1/2. The Saints are one of the Top echelon teams in the league and they can and will compete with the Rams. The Saints will be looking to get the taste out of their mouths last week and they want to show the World that they belong in the same category as the Rams. I feel the Saints have a shot to even win this game and it wont shock me. I think the Rams will squeek out a victory here but I definetly expect a competitive and close Football game.
SCORE: Rams 34 Saints 27

Arizona Cardinals (2-3) at Dallas Cowboys (1-4)
This isnt a very good matchup to say the least, but it should be a very competitve matchup. Arizona is the better team, but not by much, and Dallas is at Home. Dallas has to get their Quarterback situation straightened out, and if they do they can beat a team like Arizona at Home. This game is very tough to call and is basically a toss up game. Ill take Dallas though to win one at home.
SCORE: Cowboys 19 Cardinals 14

Oakland Raiders (4-1) at Philadelphia Eagles (3-2)
This is a very solid matchup at the Vet which is the best matchup of the week. The Eagles are high off their big win at the Meadowlands on Monday Night. The Raiders had a bye last week and are itching to get back into action. I feel the Eagles will be a bit drained after the emotional win against the Giants last week and will be overwhelmed by one of the best teams in the league. It should be a close game however, and the Eagles will have a chance if they get the breaks to go their way.
SCORE: Raiders 23 Eagles 14

New England Patriots (3-3) at Denver Broncos (3-3)
Unfortunately for the Patriots, the opposition this week is not the Indianapolis Colts. The Patriots have looked like World Beaters against the Colts, and a terrible Football team against everybody else. The Broncos have lost 2 straight divisional Road wins and return home, where they lost their last game there as well to the Ravens. The Broncos should be ready to break out and the Patriots are going to be in there way. This one may get ugly.
SCORE: Broncos 42 Patriots 17

Buffalo Bills (1-4) at San Diego Chargers (4-2)
Its the battle betwen Rob Johnson vs. Doug Flutie. The Bills will find out if they made the right decision? Well I think they already know they didnt make the right decision, the records prove that. The Bills however should make this game competitve, as the Chargers arent as good as they are cracked up to be, and the Bills were impressive last week in getting a road win in Jacksonville. However the Chargers will pull this game out at home and go to 5-2.
SCORE: Chargers 26 Bills 20

Miami Dolphins (3-2) at Seattle Seahawks (3-2)
The Dolphins have had alot of time to think over their tough loss to the Jets 2 weeks ago. Both teams are coming off byes and Seattle has turned around a rocky start to get to 3-2. This will not be an easy game by no means for the Dolphins, but it is a game I feel that they will be gritty enough to pull out and it would be a big boost for the Dolphins to get that.
SCORE: Dolphins 24 Seahawks 20

Tennessee Titans (2-3) at Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1)
Watch out for the Titans. They have won 2 in a row, although not very impressive in eiter against Tampa Bay and Detroit, but this team is ready to make some noise. The Steelers have been very impressive with their 4-1 record, but I dont think the team is ready for the big stage of a Big Game like this on Monday Night against the Titans at home. This is only the 2nd game for the Steelers in their brand new Stadium, I feel the Titans will play their best game of the year on Monday Night in Pittsburgh.
SCORE: Titans 26 Steelers 13

No Chebet? No problem.

Amazing but true, Gang Green holds on to win a nail-biter at Carolina 13-to-12. Yeah, they played horribly for the third straight win but at least they held on this time. I didn't think it would be as close as it turned out to be but over the last three years you can almost expect a heartbreak.

I don't expect much from this team but at least they won a one point game unlike other football teams *wink-wink*.

3-3 so far, couple of bad breaks from being 5-1 though.

At least i picked the Rams to lose, they should have 3 losses right now instead of 1, they are so overrated.

YES!

Great week for me, but Im out 50 Bucks. I went 10-3 against the Spread, but the one game I felt the best about was Baltimore over Jacksonville, put 50 on The Ravens and that was 1 of my 3 losses.

My other 2 losses were the Jets not covering the 2 1/2, and the Lions losing to Cincy.
