Daytona Beach, Fla., Oct. 29 — Whether he is looking to spread his racing wings a bit or hoping to secure a future in stock-car racing, either way Christian Fittipaldi is going to have a new experience on his hands November 9th.

Fittipaldi, who has been a full-time Champ Car driver since 1995, will attempt to qualify and race in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series event at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Fittipaldi, who has never tried his hand at stock-car racing before, will be running with Innovative Motorsports as a teammate to Kenny Wallace’s Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

"This is very exciting for me and I hope to be well received by those in NASCAR," Fittipaldi said. "I have long admired their racing and welcome an opportunity to be a part of it."

The race will come after the conclusion of the CART FedEx season, which closes next weekend at Fontana. Fittipaldi has expressed a desire to try his hand at the stock cars and Innovative Motorsports team owner George DeBidart decided to offer the CART veteran a chance to do so.

"We are very happy to provide Christian with this opportunity," DeBidart said. "We welcome his talents to our race team and respect his desire to attempt NASCAR. He is as pure a racer as we have seen, and we believe that his talent will translate to stock car racing." — Eric Mauk, News Bureau Editor, RACER (Photo: www.newman-haas.com)
