Driver suits and helmets on offer in online auction to help US children

Racing suits and crash helmets used by all the drivers who competed in this year's United States Grand Prix will go under the hammer in an online auction tomorrow (Wednesday).

All proceeds from the auction will go to charities that assist the children of victims of the terrorist attacks on the US last month.

Included in the sale are items from the three drivers who finished on the podium at Indianapolis. Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard have contributed their driver suits, while Michael Schumacher's crash helmet will also be up for bidding.

Each item will be listed seperately on popular online auction website www.ebay.com. Direct links to all of the listings are available on the US GP's official site, www.usgpindy.com. The auctions will be staggered by team, starting with Ferrari at 3pm GMT tomorrow (Wednesday).

The donations were co-ordinated through the Grand Prix Drivers Association and Indy boss Tony George. "Thanks to these generous donations from members of the GPDA, Formula 1 fans have the opportunity to purchase very unique pieces of F1 history and simultaneously lend support to children who tragically lost parents due to the attacks on America," said George.
