In what can be best described as a crippling blow to the colts drive for success this season, the colts will announce later today that Edgerrin James will be lost for the season with the knee injury that has kept him out of the last 2 games. here is the story from espn.com

quote:

INDIANAPOLIS -- Running back Edgerrin James will be out for the season because of
the left knee injury that has caused him to miss the Colts' last two games, the team is
expected to announce today.

WIBC radio in Indianapolis first reported today that such an
announcement would take place.

A source close to the Colts told ESPN's Chris Mortensen
that James' sprained left knee is "more serious" than first
diagnosed and he "is probably out for the year."

Mortensen also reported that Colts quarterback Peyton Manning suffered a hairline
fracture of his jaw in the fourth quarter of the Colts' loss Sunday to Miami.

Manning was scheduled to undergo oral surgery today, but is expected to play Sunday
against the New Orleans Saints.

Manning was hit by Dolphins defensive end Lorenzo Bromell early in the fourth quarter.
He finished the 27-24 loss with the jaw painfully swollen, bloodied and packed with
gauze.

Mortensen reported that the oral surgeon told Manning a retainer he has worn since
childhood probably kept the injury from being more severe.

James, who suffered the sprained knee on Nov. 1, sat out his second consecutive game
Sunday. The Colts have listed him only as "questionable" on the team injury report, but
the source said that new medical information now puts his season in doubt. The source
did not provide specific details on the latest medical information.

All in all, a terrible blow to a team that is always considered a threat to make the super bowl every year. Now it seems that possibility is in severe jeopardy.

There's a million things I could say to express my sorrow for the Colts, show my regret for their loss, and define in many ways how this will hurt them, unfortunanely there's only one thing I can say after I heard this had happened:

J - E - T - S, Jets Jets Jets

Luckily my friend and I decided to take Faulk with the second pick overall in our pay league. The funnier thing is we are playing the team that has him next week.:)

I have Dominic Rhodes up for sale for anyone who needs a running back. I would like a receiver in return.

Big blow to the Colts' offense. James will hopefully have a good comeback next year. Looks like the Three-headed monster of the Colts is down to a 1 headed monster...

He's only going to be out at least 2-3 weeks. So he will probably be back just in time for when the Jets head to Indy.

Edge just couldn't take the shame after Tom Brady destroyed his team twice in very convincing fasion.

Next up in the AFC: J-E-T-S. If Bledsoe plays, Jets win. If Brady plays, Jets get whupped.

The second opinion sought by Edgerrin James on his damaged left
knee, and obtained in the last few days, has confirmed the worst -- the
Indianapolis Colts star tailback is out for the remainder of the season.

ESPN.com has learned through various league sources, including
several close to the two-time league rushing champion, that James has
been apprised he will require surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

That determination was made by noted South Florida orthopedic surgeon John
Uribe, the second specialist to examine James' knee. James, who was injured in an
Oct. 28 game at Kansas City, has missed Indianapolis' last two games.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen first reported Monday that James was likely out for the
year.

The Colts late Thursday night issued this statement: "Consistent with previous
statements, club officials and the medical staff have not yet met with Edgerrin James
and there is nothing to report."

The team's first-round pick in the 1999 draft, James, 23, had played in 38
consecutive games until the injury.

While club officials continue to concede only that James will miss the next 2-3
weeks and suggested reports he is lost for the rest of the season are premature, the
tailback has told several teammates his 2001 campaign is over.

Well thats something I dont mind being wrong about. But then again Faulk didnt play against the Jets either, and that didnt really matter didnt it.

Now when I pick the Dolphins to beat the Jets this weekend, Hopefully I will be 2 down in the hole.
