6 in a row BABY!

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) Sergei Brylin and Patrik Elias scored 90 seconds apart in the first period and the New Jersey Devils spoiled the return of former coach Jacques Lemaire on Thursday night, beating the Minnesota Wild 6-2.

Scott Niedermayer, Bob Corkum, Petr Sykora and Randy McKay also scored, and Martin Brodeur had 26 saves as the Devils won their sixth straight.
The Devils remained in first place in the Atlantic Division, a point ahead of Philadelphia, which beat Calgary 5-2. New Jersey is four points behind Ottawa in the race for the best record in the Eastern Conference. The Senators beat Boston 5-3.
Aaron Gavey and Filip Kuba scored for Minnesota, forced to use minor leaguer Zac Bierk in goal because Jamie McLennan was sick and Manny Fernandez had a sprained knee.
The six goals matched the most given up by the defensive-minded expansion team.
Bierk, who spent this season with Cleveland of the IHL, wasn't the problem in Lemaire's first return to the Continental Airlines Arena since resigning as the Devils coach after the 1997-98 season.
The Devils, who won the Stanley Cup under Lemaire in 1995, are playing well and the Wild defense didn't show up.
After Gavey put Minnesota ahead with a power-play goal at 14:33 of the first period, the Devils didn't take long to take the lead for good.
Brylin tied it 28 seconds later, holding his stick behind his back to deflect a shot by Alexander Mogilny past Bierk, who faced 27 shots.
Skating into the crease, Elias redirected a Sykora pass in 1:30 later.
Niedermayer stretched the lead to 3-1 midway into the second with a 40-foot shot. Corkum, acquired from Los Angeles on Feb. 24, put his own rebound in four minutes later.
Kuba narrowed the lead to 4-2 less than minute after Corkum's fifth goal, but Sykora and McKay scored in the third period to give New Jersey its second win over the Wild in as many games this season.

I was at the game last night -- the Wild were never in the game --- were outplayed from the 11:00 min of the 1st to the end of the game. NJ should have done this, they are a MUCH better team than Min. -- lets see what happens next. (+ the win over the Sen's wes bigger)

as much as it dismays me, a ranger fan, it looks like the devils will win it all again. yeah yeah, the avalanche and some other teams got better records, but the devils have played possessed the last few playoffs and i don't see why it'd be different this year. FIRE RANGERS MANAGEMENT.

Raven, so true! The win over Ottawa was big. Let's see what happens to Ottawa come playoff time.

I am running a group of 80 to the Penguins game on the 25th. First time I will get to see the Great Mario play, hopefully!

I would be willing to put a group trip together for the board. I have been doing it for five years at my job, so I know who to deal with.

Maybe next season I will work on that! :)

You put those words together very well.

And since when is ONE, a few!,
If I recall the year before last year, The Devils were the #1 seed and lost to the #8 seed in the First Round. And if that wasnt bad enough, the year before that The Devils were the #1 seed and lost to the #8 seed. Making that 2 TWO!!! Years in a row for that great honor.

Yea but Andy is right about one thing. Dave Checketts and company should not be running a hockey team. It's time to stop blaming what Neil Smith did for so long and start taking the blame for the most payed team in the NHL to miss the playoffs four in a year row.

Getting back to the Devils. Yea they lost 4 years in a row, but the got all their pieces together with 8 games to go last year, and this year I have the same feeling I did last year when it was 3-1 Flyers. This Team Will Win the Stanley Cup. They are too good, they have a balanced attack, great defense, and arguably the best goaltender in the NHL, Chris Terreri :)

Mark Messier "This team is not going to the playoffs."

my god spider dont utter that god-awful name again(terreri) theres a reason he only starts like 15 times, and francine you can hate the devils as much as u want but u have to face it, devils did in 18 years what the rangers couldnt do until over 5 decades, as for this year, im not thinkin they'll be eliminated first round, but i never get too confident

Uh..... No

And Quotes, This has nothing to do with my hatred with the Devils. Im just responding to arrogant Devil fans who find it more important to bash the Rangers than to concentrate on their own team.

Ive never said I dont respect the Devils. And ive stated it before, and Ill state it again. They are the team to beat in the Eastern Conference and would be my pick to win the East. And right now I would put my money on Colorado to win the Cup, but the Devils have as good a shot as anybody.

But if the Devils get the #1 seed, which unfortunately they will not because Ottawa will, and the Devils lose in the First Round again, I will laugh my ass off.

Well it's either going to be 1st or 4th again. I realllly want them to play Carolina in the first roung instead of Buffalo or a Pittsburgh, although slim chance if Toronto would make it to 5th I wouldn't mind either.

Root for a tie. So neither team can get an advantage on each other in the Standings.

But the Devils won so there goes that idea. But personally I hate the Flyers more. I take great pleasure in the fact that they have been a dominant team for 7 seasons now and only have 1 Stanley Cup Final to show for it.

MY TOP 5 TEAMS TO HATE
1. Islanders
2. Flyers
3. Devils
4. Penguins
5. Sabres
