LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Mike Tyson was denied a boxing license Tuesday by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

It means Tyson cannot challenge WBC-IBF heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis on April 6 at the MGM Grand, but the action does not kill the fight because Tyson could be licensed by another state or another country.

The commission's 4-1 vote came one week after Tyson and Lewis were involved in a melee at a New York news conference to formally announce the fight.

"I'm not Mother Theresa,' Tyson said during the hearing. 'I'm not Charles Manson either. Just treat me equal."

He should now fight in New york or N.J.

Ready to go to war for the show

Gee, thanx for adding your 2 cents in army. You should let everyone know what u think about it, especially while starting a new topic.

Anyway, i want the fight to happen. How cool would it be if it happened at Madison Square Garden.

I'm suprised that they denied it, I know that Mike is a certified lunatic but L.V is hurting right now and this fight would have brought the city some serious cash.

That would be sweet, nothing like seeing a full fledged car wreck in person.

This the stupidest decision theyve ever made, they need the money and theyll lose big time when the fight occurs somewhere else. Like its been said before, i hope it happens at MSG. Itll boost moral for the city big time.

I was in Vegas in late Oct and it was like a ghost town, and from what I hear it's no different now. I guess the NSBC doesn't think that the economy could use the biggest money fight of all time.

I'm glad Vegas has some semblence of self-respect. Tyson is an animal and should not be allowed to fight. He should have been banned from boxing after he bit Holyfield's ears off. Sure, I'd like to see the fight, but only if Tyson does it for free and gets beat to death. That being said, the fight will probably happen anyway and I'll probably watch it. If I were Lewis I wouldn't fight him just on principle.

Hey, my moron status disappeared! I've graduated from moron-hood and entered "blank"-dom. Not sure if that's a step up or not...probably not.

Don't think for one minute that King didnt have something do to with that decision. That athletic commission knows how much influence King has in the middle , welter and light weight classes and sooner or later (as much as I hate it) he will have his hands back in the Heavyweight class full force like before.

I'm sure Vegas will hurt in the shortrun but if you look at the long term like they are King will make more money for that city then one fight ever could.

Also , the WBC already has said they will sanction the fight in any state or country so its just a matter of time before those two guys meet. MSG or AC would be a nice venue.

From reading the newspapers today, DO NOT EXPECT ANY MAJOR VENUE for this fight. The reason is Atlantic City, New York, California will go by Las Vegas's ruling that he is unfit to fight. MSG has already said no also. I heard Europe as a possibility and Detroit was another possibility.

It is looking less and likely this fight is going to happen.

I love the line, I'm not Mother Theresa but I'm not Charles manson either.

This fight could have made a ton of money. I have never watched a boxing match, but I would have ordered this one just to see the complete mayhem. Hopefully it will happen in Detroit.

This fight will happen as long as both fighters still want it. Lewis and Tyson's promoters were set to sit down today to figure out where it's going down. Detroit said they want it, the Far East is also in the running.

This fight will break all ppv records without a doubt. It has almost become bigger than the sporting world. There will be people who've never watched any sporting event, let alone boxing, ordering this thing up because of the sheer hype.
