Dolphins, Saints talking -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ESPN.com news services The Miami Dolphins and the New Orleans Saints have made contact about a trade that would send Saints halfback Ricky Williams to the Dolphins, Miami head coach Dave Wannstedt and New Orleans general manager Randy Mueller told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. The talks were described as preliminary, according to Mortensen. Besides the Dolphins, Mortensen reported that the Saints also had contacted other teams to gauge interest in Williams, the NFC's fourth leading rusher last season with 1,245 yards. "I told him we'd get back to him if we were interested," Dolphins vice president of football operations Rick Spielman said in Sunday's Miami Herald. Earlier this week, Williams and agent Leigh Steinberg discussed the possibility of a trade to Miami. "It's a win-win situation," Williams told the Herald earlier in the week. "I'm finally happy in New Orleans, so I could stay happy here or I'd be happy in Miami."  | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | Yeah, I am starting to wonder about the Dolphins.... sign Jay F. for that long, though servicible, not a great qb. This sighning could mean that the Fins are getting ready to make that trade with the Saints and give up a first round and another high round(1st - 3 rd) pick or two to get Williams. Sounds like the the big 3 in MIami could well be; Jay Fielder, Chris Chambers, and Ricky Williams. That makes Jay kindda look like he will be better in the 2002 season....... at least on paper! They got a 4th round pick and a conditional pick next year which is dependent on Glenn's performance. Could be as high as 2nd, low as 4th. **edit, didn't see your other topic.
