UPSET CHANCES Their are two #12 seeds I like winning games. The #12 seeds usually fair well in the Tournament against the #5 seed. Every year at least one #12 seed usually wins. I like in the East, #12 Utah over #5 Indiana. Indiana is over rated, and Utah is a program that has been there before, being in the Final four a couple of years ago. Ill also take #12 Missouri over #5 Miami in the West. Missouri came on strong at the end and Miami is a good team, but not good enough to blow people away. Other chances for upsets include in the South #11 Penn over #6 California, especially with the game being played in Pittsburgh. In the East #11 Southern Illinois over #6 Texas Tech. I dont think Texas Tech is good enough to be a #6 seed, and Bobby Knight hasnt faired well recently in the NCAA Tournament. BEST POSSIBLE 2ND ROUND MATCHUPS In the West you have a possible #3 Arizona vs. #6 Gonzaga matchup. Gonzaga got absolutely screwed being a #6 seed. They should have been a #3 seed somewhere else, instead they wind up #6 in the Hardest Region the West. That should be a great game, but Lute Olson has his team on a roll and nobody takes Gonzaga for granted anymore. In the Midwest #4 Illinois vs. #5 Florida should be a great matchup. I feel Illinois is still the best team out of the Big 10, and Florida may still be the best team in the SEC with the exception of Alabama. In the Midwest #1 Kansas vs. #8 Stanford. Kansas lost in the 2nd Round as a #1 seed a couple of years ago. I dont see that happening again, but Stanford is a pretty good team for a #8 seed and may give the Jayhawks a run. The Big Upset I have in the 2nd Round, is in the West, #8 UCLA over #1 Cincinnati. Cincinnati stole the #1 seed here, as Oklahoma definetly should have had it after their win over Kansas. UCLA is a very talented team and if they click on all cylinders, they can beat Cincinnati. HERES MY SWEET 16 SOUTH Duke-USC Pittsburgh-Alabama WEST UCLA-Ohio State Arizona-Oklahoma EAST Maryland-Marquette Southern Illinois-NC State MIDWEST Kansas-Illinois Texas-Oregon SOUTH WINNER- Duke over Pittsburgh WEST WINNER- Arizona over Ohio State EAST WINNER- Maryland over NC State MIDWEST WINNER- Kansas over Texas FINAL FOUR- Duke, Arizona, Maryland, Kansas CHAMPIONSHIP GAME- Duke vs. Kansas NATIONAL CHAMPIONS- Kansas  | ||||

The South bracket is wide open IMO, especially the bottom half. Kent State and Central Conn. St. are very good teams that not many people know about. Id pick Pittsburgh, but i dont know if they can do anything without their bigtime PG, and even if he does play, they are in trouble. The West is obviously the hardest. How the fuck is Gonzaga the #6 seed?? They can beat Zona, but i just think Oklahoma is too strong of a team to be beaten right now. UCLA can definitely beat Cincy, but it depends on which team shows up. Midwest division is pretty solid, but i really like San Diego State here. Now, personally i think this is my biggest risk in putting them in the Sweet 16, but they can do it. Florida isnt a dominating team, and can be very cold and very inconsistant. Illinois is obviously a very good team, but i think that San Diego State will show the world what they are made of. East is weak, bottom line there. It will be interesting to see if UConn can keep this momentum going, which i think it can. 2nd Round vs Michigan State should be fun to watch. Marquette can flat out play, and i feel that they can beat Maryland in the Sweet 16. That will be a fun game to watch. Overall, a very compelling tournament. Of course it sucks that schools like BC made it and others like Butler and Bowling Green didnt. But, a week from now, whos gonna care about them anyway? Ill get over it, and so will everyone else. Anyway, haven't figured out my Sweet 16 or Final Four yet (need time to stew it over unlike last year when I zipped through it in 5 minutes and got screwed after a great first round), but I have noticed a few upset possibilities. Just looking at some of the higher seeded teams you can just see them losing. Here's some upset candidates in each region: East - Tulsa, Valpo Midwest - Pepperdine; Oregon, Miss St. possibilities in the second round to choke. South - Wide open bracket coming up; Utah, Penn, CCSU, Kent State. Gee, you think the selection committee wants Duke to do well? West - Missouri, Boston University. It has to happen sooner or later, a 16 going over a 1. Why not the weakest one out there. Granted, I probably won't even take that one myself but watching BU on Saturday, they looked tough. ------------------- But there's also this: there are over 5,000 men in this city, who know that being a policeman is an endless, glamourless, thankless job that's gotta be done.
