| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01  | Well, by now you've probably heard that Ruben Rivera, one time Yankee pheenom, demonstrated that he lacks anything between the ears. He ("allegedly") admitted to stealing Derek Jeter's glove from the locker room, and possibly previously stole stuff from Clemens. Since the clubhouse is supposed to be sacrosanct, he was quickly dumped from the roster. I heard a good comment on this on ESPN radio this morning. Mike Greenberg commented "Obviously, stealing from the locker room is looked on in baseball as a worse crime than drug abuse and wife beating, since the latter 2 never result on being cut from a team". Of course, the fact that Rivera is a backup outfielder instead of All-Star doesn't seem to hurt either.  | ||||

WHat kind of an asshole can you be if you are resigned with a team that obviously feels you have something special, only to throw that chance away by theiving (allegedly) from your teammates? I'm sure once George pays for his rehab he'll be back on the roster in some form (ala Gooden and Straw) - but then I suppose it depends on how much of a hard-on George has for him. quote:Agreed - imagine if Jeter or Giambi were discovered to be a closet Winona Ryder! | O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Actually I think Rivera will never be back. Rumor has it that the players voted him out. George may give 4th, 5th, and 6th chances, but not if it will upset his star players. Strawberry's crack & whore binging never upset Jeter, Williams, et al. | ||||
