Booing Giambi on Friday was a little harsh, agreed, but keeping in mind that every Yankee has been booed in Yankee Stadium at some point in his career, when you get paid that much and start 1-16 or whatever it was, it goes with the territory. (Tino was booed unmercifully until he hit his first homer at the end of April 1996.) Also, the fans that booed Giambi Friday were the same fans that gave him two, two standing ovations on Saturday during his first-inning at-bat. As for Ventura, I didn't hear or read a thing about him getting booed or taunted, so I'd love to know what you're talking about. I think the "wanna-be hooligans/thugs in the bleachers" are creeps inside and outside the Stadium, but I just don't think you can make a statement like that without a story behind it. And the part about DirectTV is purely asinine; Yankee fans want to watch the Yankees -- is there something "moronic" about that? -- and if DirectTV is the only option, so be it. And it is not about Steinbrenner's ransom, as discussed in other threads, it's the creeps at Cablevision holding a grudge against Steinbrenner for terminating their existing contract (which the team paid something like $100 million to get out of) and at the same time trying to make more money. If the fans don't want to like him, sucks for them cuz he's here for a while. I didn't know about booing Ventura, but honestly, what the hell is wrong with the people who did that?
