Unforunately, the Penguins dont have a prayer in this series.

Toronto should have finished them off when they had their chance.

I think the PENS have a chance. I hope not. But the DEvils just need to keep on pressing like they did last night, and the series will in NJ's pocket.

The Devils cannot play like that again, or else they might as well hand the Penguins the Eastern Conference crown! I have been saying this all along, they need to play a FULL 60 minutes!

It was good to see Nieds back on the ice, and he played well.

FINAL
New Jersey 2, Pittsburgh 4

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) _The Penguins evened the best-of-seven Eastern Conference finals 1-1, after a 4-2 win Tuesday evening in New Jersey. Games 3 and 4 will be in Pittsburgh, Thursday and Saturday.
Rene Corbet scored the go-ahead goal in the second period, and Robert Lang added another in the third for the Penguins.

Jay Pandolfo and Petr Sykora scored for the Devils, who had an apparent goal by Patrik Elias nullified with 7:52 to go when referee Kevin Pollack lost sight of the puck during a scramble in front of goalie Johan Hedberg.

The Devils led 2-0 in the second period. However, 10 seconds after Rene Corbet was called for a penalty, Mario Lemieux led a 2-on-1 break with Morozov. Lemieux snapped a shot off Martin Brodeur's pads, and Morozov whacked the rebound into an open net.

Then Lemieux jumped off the bench and intercepted a clearing pass by defenseman Ken Daneyko. He backhanded a pass to Alexi Kovalev, who fired a one-timer past Brodeur.

Wayne Primeau knocked down a clearing pass by defenseman Sean O'Donnell. Defenseman Brian Rafalski tried to hit the puck out of the zone, but Corbet knocked it down and one-timed the puck between Brodeur's legs.

Kovalev set up Lang's insurance goal at 5:15 with a pass from behind the net.

Pandolfo got the first goal on what looked like a cross-ice pass intended for Sergei Nemchinov, driving to the net to the left of the goal. Hedberg put his stick out to block the pass, but the puck jumped, hit his blocker and went down and into the net at 8:52.

Sykora scored on a short-handed breakaway with a slap shot between Hedberg's pads. It was his team-high seventh goal of the playoffs.

Hedberg almost knocked another puck into the net in the opening minute of the second period, trying to handle a pass from behind the goal line by New Jersey's Alexander Mogilny.

If I were a Devil fan, I wouldnt be scared at all.
The Penguins have been weak at home in the Playoffs the last 2 years and the Devils have been dominant.

Last year in the 2nd Round, the Penguins won the First 2 games on the road, and then lost the next 2 at home. They did the same exact thing this year.

On the other hand, The Devils won 2 out of 3 in Toronto, 2 out of 3 in Carolina. Last year won all 3 games in Dallas in the Finals, won 3 out of 4 in Philadelphia, 2 out of 3 in Toronto, and won both games in Florida.

Playing in rowdy Pittsburgh will not phase the Devils and I expect them to win both games in Pittsburgh. I think the Devils are going to win in 6 with the Road team win the remaining games.

if youre a devils fan your not suprised at all from this little display i remember the announcer saying "shock and dismay" and i think it was just everyone making that one same facial expression that just said "typical"

all that you fashion all that you make
all that you build all that you break
all that you measure all that you feel
all this you can leave behind

DEVILS ROCK! Best game of these playoffs!

FINAL
New Jersey 3, Pittsburgh 0

PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Brian Rafalski and Jason Arnott scored as the Devils opened an early two-goal lead for the second consecutive game, as they seized the series lead with a 3-0 victory Thursday night in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals.
The Devils handed the Penguins' their first shutout defeat in a home playoff game since a 1-0 loss to the Islanders and goalie Glenn Resch on April 26, 1975. Resch is now a Devils broadcaster.

It was the 11th career playoff shutout for goalie Martin Brodeur, tying him with Ed Belfour for seventh on the NHL list, and his third this spring. He had consecutive shutouts against Carolina in the first round.

The defending Stanley Cup champions can open a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series by winning Game 4 Saturday in Pittsburgh, where the Penguins have lost seven of their last 10 playoff games. The Penguins have been outscored 21-16 on home ice while losing four of seven this spring.

In game 2, the Devils opened a two-goal first period lead however, the Penguins scored four consecutive goals to win 4-2.

This time, the Devils shut down the Penguins after seizing the 2-0 lead at 12:31 of the first on Arnott's power-play goal six seconds into a 5-on-3 advantage created by a pair of Pittsburgh penalties in open ice.

Rafalski opened the scoring at 8:42 of the first on a breakout with Alexander Mogilny that developed when Jaromir Jagr threw the puck from along the boards into the middle of the Devils zone, only to find Mogilny there. Mogilny broke in on goalie Johan Hedberg, then shot it across the slot to Rafalski for his fifth of the playoffs.

Several minutes later, the Penguins went down two men when Josef Beranek took a roughing penalty, and Bob Boughner hauled down Patrik Elias in the Penguins zone 36 seconds later.

Arnott quickly made it 2-0 after that, ramming a one-timer from the left circle between Hedberg's pads almost before the goalie could react to Rafalski's cross-ice feed. It was Arnott's fourth of the playoffs.

Elias got his sixth off a wrist shot on a 2-on-1 break with defenseman Colin White.

As a Ranger fan, I dont want any part of Jagr if it means they are going to have to give up a shitload for him.

The Penguins should just play all their games on the road because they are the WORST Home Playoff Team I have ever seen.

But I bet you Pittsburgh wins Game 5 at the Meadowlands, and then the Devils close them out in Game 6 in Pittsburgh.
