I don't know about any of you, but I really am getting into this year's U.S. Open. I am a frustrated golf fan, because my favorite golfer is Phil Mickelson, who is once again near the top of the leaderboard, but always seems to collapse on Sunday. Hopefully he will pull it out tomorrow. It's cool watching 6 or 7 good golfers competing hole for hole with each other instead of Tiger Woods blowing everyone away. And next year's Open will be in New York, which should be really fun to watch.

Yea i be taking that zoloff, but thaz jus keepin me from killin y'all.
I have come here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of bubblegum. :)

Cluster, i was about to start this topic and you absolutely said everything I wanted to. I have been glued the last few days. I love the 6,7 guys all in a "cluster" at the top on sunday, it makes for a really compelling last few holes.

Think about this, what got you more excited? Tiger winning the 4th straight major/his masters record performance a few years ago. OR Payne Stewart's putt to beat Mick at the Open/ that incredible putt (i forget who sunk it, i think it might have been olazabel) that sent the Brit open that Daly eventually won to a playoff.

BOTTOM LINE: Record setting makes for boring golf.

Also, Mickelson should have been in the lead by 1. He missed that eagle, and the birdie on 15 and then missed another easy bird by inches on 16. He always finds a way to lose. Is it possible he comes from the seed of Greg Norman?

Sorry for kinda stealing your thunder there posting the topic before you. I am not dissing Tiger Woods at all, he is a great golfer. But I would much rather see 6 guys at the top than him winning Augusta by 14 shots.

BTW, i remember that British Open, that is what hooked me on golf. I totally forgot who hit that long putt against Daly, it wasnt Olazabal though. I remember that the guy tried to chip it first and shanked it and everyone booed. And then he made a 90 footer lol. It was classic stuff.

Yea i be taking that zoloff, but thaz jus keepin me from killin y'all.

Constantino Rocca sunk that putt. I was 15 and just started playing golf just before that. I remember going absolutely insane and then spending about 3 hours at the driving range afterwards so that i could win a british open too. What an insane moment.

BTW, what happened to Greg Norman. Hes only in his late 40s? I havent seen him in a few years.

Yeah, good job whackbag, i forgot that guy's name but if someone wouldve said it to me, I'd remember it. Greg Norman is not what he used to be. Last year he broke his hip or something when he fell down a flight of stairs. After his recovery, he hasnt been the same.

As a matter of fact, he lost his exemption to the majors when he failed to make the cut at Augusta this year. He is in a downward spiral since that Augusta mess against Faldo. I feel bad for him too.

Yea i be taking that zoloff, but thaz jus keepin me from killin y'all.

i dont have the course info in front of me, but I do know that it will be in Long Island, and that the course is a public course, which is rare, especially for a major. Narrows it down a little bit lol.

Next years Open will be at ths Bethpage Black Course. I haven't actually played it yet, it's very hard to get a tee time, but i have seen it while playing the other courses there and it is just beautiful. They did a total makeover a few years ago. I just sent in my application for tickets hopefully I will get a pair.
My favorite golf moment happened last year or the year before at The Masters, when Davis Love III chipped from off the green 20 feet passed the hole just to have the ball come back around and drop in the hole for birdie.

Get your mouse off my sig pic!!

The final pairings today are:

Azinger and Duval
Mickelson and Brooks
Garcia and Mediate
Goosen and Cink

The most interesting pairing is probably Garcia and Mediate, with both of them being so animated in their play. They will feed off of each other. Hopefully, my favorite golfer, Mickelson, will snap out of it and win a major. The gallery should be behind him. All in all it should be a fun day of golf.

perv, that was the 99 Masters. The same one where everyone got all mistyeyed at Norman's run to the top only to end up blowing that one too.

I've been rooting for Phil for a while now. He's just overdue. But it doesn't really matter if he wins or not. He still gets to go home to Amy. Lucky bastard.

Oh, the humanity...those short putts! Damn those short putts to hell!!! I know how it feels to try to make a short putt with your whole body doing a subtle shake and the match or tournament riding on it. It's a bitch...

My ass is gonna be glued to the seat in front of the tv for the next 4 hours, should be a GREAT playoff...

And Bethpage is tough to get on...I slept overnight in my car to get a time. The whole procedure kinda sucks but it's fair. I took all my buddies' money, it was fun to play. Rees Jones did a great job restoring it. Definitely the best public golf facility in the country.
The Red course kicks ass, too.
