this guy has pure talent. he's a 5 tool player and even though his power numbers are low they will rise eventually. i think this guy is for real and will make a big impact on baseball, bigger than he already has. i predict all star mvp, rookie of the year lock, and very possibly mvp of the year.

what do you guys think?

He is absolutley fo real.
In Japan, he is as big as Tiger Woods.
After 1/2 of a year, though, it is hard to say weather he will win any of those awards.

The All Star game has to be played first before you can determine the mvp.
The Rookie of the year award, he has a great chance for. But again, he has to play until October. I also see Alfanso Soriano as a contender for this award.
As far as the League MVP, I really don't think so.
But yes, he is an amazing player.

Personally I fucking hate the guy. What the fuck makes him so special that he only goes by the name "Ichiro"? That's so pisses me off. In any case, he's a very good player and should be around for a while. Good signing by Seattle and if they go far it will be a nice fuck you to Arod.

Comparing him to Shane Spencer just isn't fair. Spencer is just a muscled up power goon. Stupid wannabe Steve Balboni.

If the Mets management had just listened to Bobby Valentine, Ichiro would be with the Mets instead, and we'd only be 10 games under .500 instead of 13. I think he is the real deal; I don't know about league MVP, but he is really good.

Yea i be taking that zoloff, but thaz jus keepin me from killin y'all.

Officer Joe Friday, please don't compare Spencer to Bye-Bye Balboni. At least Spencer can play the field.

Well, obviously he's better than Balboni in that regard but for the most part all Spencer is is a generic power guy. He's not as bad as some of the generic power hitters of the 70s and 80s like Dave Kingman, Rob Deer, and Balboni but that's because there isn't much use for those guys anymore. But he's basically just one step removed in the evalution of the power hitter. He will explode though if he goes to Colorado as has been rumored in a deal for Astacio. Don't even get me started on how stupid that would be.

Yeah, and if they listened to him they would have gotten Irabu too and thus saved the Yanks from the hassle of 2.5 years of him. Somehow we managed to screw over the Expos in dealing him though. Stupid Expos.

Ichiro is definately for real. he leads the majors in stolen bases and hits. he's batting .350 and has already scored 75 runs. he is a terrific defensive outfielder with a very powerful arm. and i think he has a legitimate shot at MVP.

Fred Lynn 1975 with the Sox. Oh yeah, and the Sox still didn't win the Series. They suck.
