This is pretty stupid. The team was decimated by injuries this year and they kept it close to the Yankees all year and even were leading the division for a couple months.

Hopefully the Yankees, can run away with it now

I hate replying to myself.. but here is the text:

Red Sox terminate contract of Manager Jimy Williams
Thursday afternoon, the Boston Red Sox announced that the contract of Jimy Williams has been terminated.
"On behalf of the Red Sox organization I want to thank Jimy for his years of service with our ballclub," said Red Sox Executive Vice President and General Manager Dan Duquette. "We feel that it is in the best interest of the organization to make a managerial change at this time for everyone concerned, especially Red Sox fans. It is our hope that the ballclub will respond positively to the change at this crucial juncture of the season as we head down the final stretch. Together with Red Sox fans, we are intensely focused on reaching our shared goals as we pursue the AL East title, a playoff berth, and continue our efforts towards bringing a World Series Championship to Boston."

Information regarding a new Red Sox Manager will be forthcoming. Jimy Williams was named the 41st Red Sox Major League Manager on November 19, 1996.

Thats the best thing that can happen to him. Get out now while he can, because forget the Yankees, the Redsox are going to be lucky to be ahead of Toronto when the season is over with.

Let somebody else deal with douchebags like Carl Everett.

"It must be August, Boston, because down you go" - Jay Mohr (8/14/01)

And Red Sox fans still think they have a chance.

What I do know is that Boston fans absolutely hated him and that his Link to Duquette was the Weakest it would ever be. Be that as it may, it's a stupid move to make such a fuss in the most critical part of a season.

Boston will never recover from this, but then again, they haven't recovered since that fateful year of 1918.

Duquett has wanted to can his ass for years. But why now? I can smell the panic in Boston from here.

Another reason the Dead Sox will never win, ever. This is the dumbest thing. You really have to wonder what The GM is thinking.

And they need to get rid of Carl Everett. The team would benefit without him in the clubhouse.

Stupid move by the Red Sox. You cant tell me that he sucked as a manager, cause they manage to win games every year when their best players get hurt. Granted, they really arent World Series material, but that is not the manager's fault. Just another fault of the city of Boston.

With Nomar and Pedro coming back, the Red Sox call it a year? Stoo-pid!

Ah well, my Yankees paid for it, and if the rest of the division wants to step aside and wave them into the playoffs, so be it.

Well considering the Blow Sox are now 5 (?) games
behind the Yankees and have virtually no shot
against Oakland for the wildcard I say they just
throw in the towel now...I mean why delay the
inevitable? They're done, and they know it....

Long live the curse of the Babe...1918 :p

Farewell, Jimmy. But he'll find good things to do on his free time. I agree that he doesn't suck, it's the team that has done that since 1918.

I don't however, think that we should just discard them just yet. We have seven games left with them and Seattle coming in for three this weekend while Boston gets the lowly Orioles.
