This was two computers ago. The computer in question eventually ended up out at the curb of my home for the trashman.

I can count the amount of computers I've purchased with one finger. I got it for $150 on ebay. I have two from my work 1 old dinasour that got trashed and the other is a 4 year old dell that I am going to turn into a server one of these days. My wife has a computer her parents got her for school and we chucked another one from her parents that was also a dinasour. I have a vaio laptop my dad got me for a birthday/graduation etc etc present.
When they upgrade teh computer systems here the old computers just lie around and collect dust. We all pretty much just beg for our old machines and they eventually cave.
In conclusion, it is very possible to own a half dozen computers and still do a balancing act on the poverty line.
