New gig seen for DJ bad boys

"The punks are history," Catholic League president William Donahue said in press release last week. "This is one culture war our side won."

Oh, really. I'd love to see this ass clown eat his own words.

How great would it have been if someone ran up with a WOW sign wearing a gorilla mask and knocked that clown down while he was on the air saying this??

tra la la la, fuck the catholic fag groups.

the worst part about that whole article was that guy saying (sub-quote)"even if they do come back, who will listen to them?"(sub-quote)

I know for a fact that if they come back sirius will be flying off the shelves...or at least i hope so.

According to Opie on the O&A website, he said they would be back in "10 months, worst case".

That leads me to believe there is no Non-compete.

Would that 'non-compete' clause be void if they went on satellite radio?

It's not like they would be competing in the same market place, would they? Radio being some what different then that new fangled satellite gizmo.

I'm sure, if there was a non-compete, the contract would be worded as "any broadcasting competitor". Since XM, no matter how small of a threat they are, is a competitor - if there WAS a non-comp, it'd kick in.

But this is null. Opie said a few weeks ago (being 2 months after the two year anniversary of the new deal) that they'd be back on the air within 10 months, [bold]worst case.[/bold]

Opie's no slouch. He'd know the contract, and he'd know if there was a non-comp or not.

Can you call into a satellite radio show? Will there be instant feedback?

So much of their show depended on their audience participation. A lot of the bits were initiated by the audience. Can this happen on satellite?

No, they have to replace all phones with space age liquid metal conductors in order to broadcast the satellite feed.

Also, our computers are way to primative to interact with any websites that they put up, so there will be no instant feedback.

A satellite radio show works the same way a broadcast show would work. Phone lines, computers, etc. The difference is in the transmission, not the setup. So yes, there would be phone calls, feedback, etc.

Remember, it's not like O&A are gonna be in space, transmitting from a space station. It's just a normal radio show.

The cool thing about it, O&A could potentially design their own space since they don't need a traditional studio. They could create something and then transmit the show through T1's to the satellite dish.

So they could truly create "The O&A Broadcast Complex" - like the so-called Howard Stern building.

Another advantage of this is potential live video.
