Let\'s go back in the Day... - The Brain - 09-12-2003

It's hard to believe, but this was inspired by a KensPen thread. Confusedhudder:

Anyway, there's a discussion going on in that thread about our favorite cartoons from yesteryear.

And while I know there's a thread around here somewhere where we've discussed our favorite console games, I don't think much focus has been made on our fav arcade games.

My all-time, absolutely favorite arcade from way back when is Dragon's Lair. What could possibly be better for a then six-year old than to play a game that puts you in a cartoon?

Other favs:
Pacland
Gauntlet
Rampage
Whirlwind (it was a pinball game)

So what are/were your favorite arcade games when you were a kid? Inquiring minds wanna know.

Spy Hunter in the arcade was the shizznit. I also always liked Dig Dug for some reason.

Super Off Road, TMNT, Simpsons, X-Men, Street Fighter II were all good games in their day, and quite a drain on my pockets.

I'm a bit on the young side (20) so screw you if this sounds too recent.

-Simpsons
-Street Fighter 1 (When Ryu had red hair, and Birdie was white)
-Gauntlet 2 (Though they're all the same)
-Double Dragon 2
-WWF Wrestlefest
-Karate Champ
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
-Pitfighter

Thank the lord for MAME, easier on the wallet.

Q-Bert

And the pinball machine that was a carnival...Big Top? I can't remember. Just that the clown would say, "You spin the wheel, you take your chances." That machine and Earthshaker I used to love.

Spy Hunter...ahhh, yes. I'd get giddy everytime I came across a "sit down" version of it. Loved that damn game growing up.

Also...Afterburner. Man, that game kicked my ass back in the day. Outrun, SFII series, Hang-On, Pole Position, Super Punch Out!!, Galaga, Galaxian, Centipede, Millipede, Asteroids, Moon Patrol, the Pac Man series. Pinbot pinball, the Simpsons game (but I love the pinball machine even more; Apus' "thank you, come again" had me rollin' everytime.)

So many more games to list....

Space Harrier, Ninja Gaiden, Killer Instinct, Commando, Ikari Warriors, YE Air Kung Fu, Choplifter, Contra! Super Contra!

If anyone lives in the central jersey area...go check out Dunellons' Eight on the Break. the only arcade around (besides Menlo Parks' hoity toity one)!

and if ANYONE can tell me where I can play F-Zero GX around Jersey or NYC somewhere, a dozen cookies for you!

Or a 6 pack of brew, your choice.

[P.Diddy style]
I ain't, go-in no-where...I ain't...goin' nowhere, I can't be stopped now, cuz its arcades fo' life.

The cyclone!!!! I'm a pinball freak. I was at Coney Isalnd Labor Day weekend, but actually couldn't even find it.

Still love the T2 pinball, and there's a casino machine I really like in the city, cuz it has a 4 ball multiball.

Duuuuude.... I used to go to the Break... nice!

F-Zero AX, from all sites I've seen, will be rolling out to arcades this month - the two-week stint at Willowbrook Mall must have been some sort of preview.
