Alright, I'm sure most of you have heard Napster is making it's big "comeback" at the end of this month. Only this time they are legit and legal.

The question is, who is going to join this and why? Why would anyone pay money to download these days when there are so many other services available for free?
I know, the whole lawsuit bullshit, but most people know how not to get caught and Kazaa Lite even has a built in protector to keep the RIAA from seeing what you do. As long as you use an ounce of intelligence, you should know how to avoid getting caught.

Anyway, here is the link if you care to check it out.
Napster

Are any of you going to consider this as an alternate source of downloading or is it nothing more than a joke to you?

to me it seems too pricy..

$10 an album is the same it costs in the stores these days...

$10 for an album? You are kidding right?
I've gone into record stores (virgin, sam goody- ripoffs to begin with) and I've seen cds for $20 now. I nearly shit myself b/c I think that has to be the most insane thing to do...and people buy them!!!!!

All the money spent on cds can be spent on blank cds & jewel cases.....fuck buying cds- the only time I buy a cd now is if I can't find it online.

Gotta hit Best Buy or shitty Target for $10 to $13 cds. I personally haven't bought a cd in 6 months and downloading sucks unless you can find real versions of the fucking songs.

what header said...

you're just shopping at the wrong places. every week best buy has a pretty big variety of new stuff at 9.99-11.99

I think it is something that I would do.

I don't mind the artists getting paid for their work but 20-25 bucks a cd is outrageous. 10 bucks for the cd I can handle and if I only want 1 song its only a buck.

Even though I will not use this service because I refuse to pay when there are freebies out there, Napster was the best when it came to download rates. At least for me it was.
Since they were stopped, I've yet to find a service that matches how fast they were. Kazaa comes close, but it's still not as good. That's about the only thing I miss with Napster.
