Just to pass along, I got promoted Monday morning...three weeks of classroom and hands on stuff before I head out to the platfroms and start running things.

One more update, I will be starting tomorrow, working with another boss in Queens. Saturday night I will be counted in the staffing, and I will probably be either running the tour or being sent to cover a spot in another borough. I'm actually a little worried about how things will turn out.

what if you live next to said idiots and your stuff gets burned up.

ps Jimmiy what the fuck is this tour you are talking about?

Tour=shift
Rarely will you hear people in emergency services refer to their shift as a shift. Example I am working a day tour tomorrow and the night tours on Friday and Saturday.

Sounds like an overstatement of job duties sort of like Law enforcement technician.

Dude, you have no idea...If you want to see what it's all about, IM me and come on down. It is a lot to learn and do. A lot of paperwork, evaluating junior people while being evaluated myself. Having to deal with bosses who think they know so much more than you because they came into the job long before you were born and have an answer for everything. Working to keep the neighborhoods covered, while dealing with a few incidents at once. It's a big responsibility. So I don't think I'm overstating anything.

I think Laz was referring to your use of "tour" rather than "shift" -- not downplaying your duties. Of course, I could be wrong, but that's the way I took it.
