Some of you may have heard, on Tuesday, of Senator Orrin Hatch's plan to destroy the computers of file traders.

Well, it seems that the old bastard will have his own computer destroyed if he gets his way.

Irony rules.

I still don't understand what would be to prevent say some kid pissed off at mom and dad from destroying their computer in this fashion.

Well, his proposal was for two warnings, and on the third strike, you're out.

After the first warning, I would think the parents would put that computer on lockdown...... if not, sucks to be them....

That's unbelievable. Screw downloading songs...I'm just gonna start taping them from the radio like in the good old days. And I still won't buy the CDs.

From the article:

Quote:\"If we can find some way to do this without destroying their machines, we'd be interested in hearing about that,\" Hatch said. \"If that's the only way, then I'm all for destroying their machines. If you have a few hundred thousand of those, I think people would realize\" the seriousness of their actions, he said.
So, his idea to protect a dollar's worth of music on a $15 or $16 CD is to destroy a $1,000+ worth of electrical equipment?

Good thing he went into politics, and not something that would require actual brainpower, like applied mathematical physics. Rolleyes
