MLB Postseason
"The Sox have no class?"

You people are idiots. I heard that about five times yesterday as well.

What have they done that is classless?

Pedro is a bit of a bitch. His throwing at people is no different than what Clemens has done (though I don't recall Pedro ever throwing at someone's head and then throwing bat shards at them) and the whole Zimmer thing was Zimmer's fault.

Manny is an idiot, but there has to be some rational psychological edge reason why he started yelling at Clemens because that ball wasn't two feet near his head. There is just no way he though that ball was near him.

But aside from those two (neither of whose actions are "classless") this team is filled with some of the nicest "classiest" guys in baseball. Millar, Nixon, Ortiz, Varitek, etc etc. these are people that are considered hard workers, and to a man "great clubhouse guys". This team is generally considered the closes team in baseball, and has amazhing chemestriy (too much so with the hugs all the time....little gay)

Probably the only person without class is David Wells and he'd say it. He's a fat load, an alcholic, and has been traded 15 times because everyone hates him.

Red Sox suck. Just that simple. They started the whole thing by throwing behind and at the head. In a one on one fight, I'd take Clemens against anyone on the stinking Red Sucks. Yeah Pedro is so tough. He beat up a 72 year old man. How Macho. You know why Zimmer was pisssed? Because your fucking hero Pedro was telling the Yankee dugout (while pointing at his head) he would bean one of them. Fuck Pedro, he's scum. Fuck the Red Sucks too.

I think Harold Reynolds on the "Baseball Tonight" had the most valid point.

After a player gets hit, the entire opposing lineup is just waiting for what would seem an inevitable retaliation. Even though both sides got warned, every Red Sox hitter would probably assume Clemens was going to send a warning shot anyway. Clemens' first three or four pitches to Ramirez were away... and then came that high pitch, which was up, but like you said, nowhere near his head. But it was probably close enough in his mind to be taken as the retaliation they were expecting. Hence his reaction.

As for the Zimmer-Martinez squabble, like I said before, Zim had no business going after Martinez, even though the entire incident traces directly back to him. Had Zimmer not brought his hands up toward Martinez' face (it certainly looked like he intended to either hit or grab him), then Martinez would not have had to take motions to defend himself.

EDIT:

Lost in the midst of the Yankees-Red Sox war is the fact that Dusty Baker is one win away from managing back-to-back World Series teams... only with two different teams. And mind you, it's not like the Cubs were on the cusp of greatness last season. We're talking about a team that had a 67-95 record.

If he gets there (of course you have to say "if", these are the Cubs after all), I definitely think he should win Manager of the Year, to acknowledge his job with both the Giants and Cubs the past two seasons.

What is Pedro supposed to do? Run away? How much would Yankee fans be calling him a faggot for running away from an old man?

Maybe you did say it. Punk ass

At least they are being fair as to handing out punishments.

Fines handed down

This is the stupidest thing I read though in that article.
Quote: In New York, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Martinez should have been arrested for throwing Zimmer to the ground.

\"If that happened in New York we would have arrested the perpetrator,'' Bloomberg said. \"Nobody should throw a 70-year-old man to the ground, period. ... You just cannot assault people, even if it's on a baseball field.\"

What an idiot. Here's an idea people, next time one of you sees Mayor Bloomberg out in public, rush him and when you are grabbed and subdued by his security you can sue the city for assault.
Hey, what's good for Pedro Martinez is good for the Mayor, right?
