there's good people and shitty people. gender is and/or should be irrrelevent.
I wish it would be irrelevent. But seriously, females are catty. Men (if they aren't gay) aren't. Females have to try to prove something. I don't. I try to accept people when I first meet them. First impressions always leave a mark.
Yeah....why is that ?? When I was going out with this one girl for 3 years she was always jealous of how close me and Danielle were. So jealous that she forbid me to hang ot with her. WTF ??? Just cause she knows me longer then you??? Big fucking deal. Last few girls I went out with were an extent of that, which sucks because Im friends with alot of girls.
The last female I went out with totally put females into the evil category for me. Ii did everything I thought possible to be good. Ive done alot of shady shit in my past relationships....shit I aint too proud of...but with this one it never crossed my mind to go and betray that. I went all out to make her happy. I put more effort into this relationship than any other. I honestly felt happy when I was with her.........only to be tossed to the fucking curb, totally cut off.
So now because of her I dont trust like I used to. Im always looking now to see if there's some alterior motive in a woman I date.

Another point to what I said...
Last November I met this chick who works for another division of my company thru another co-worker. She was nice, but she had a snotty demeanor about her.
In the beginning, when her division moved 1 floor above mine, she would say hello to me. Now, forget it. She doesn't even acknowledge me. Not even a hello. I had no idea that it was that hard to strain yourself to say "hi" or "hello"....
That right there shows what I mean..... chicks are cunts. And she's an outright snob, and she's really ugly.

My sister is a cheap whore.
After dating my now brother in law for seven years (and having my niece for 6) she went through this phase that she had to be married. She had the big deal wedding, my niece was the flower girl, she was refused to let me near the microphone to give a toast because of me accidently letting the truth out, and somehow to manage that the wedding night was the exact right time to get pregnant.
So when my nephew was about 2, a male nurse she works with started showing up in the picture. At first she swore it was a harmless friendship and nothing more. Then she admitted that she had "feelings of love" for the male nurse. And ever since then she's been jerking my brother in law around. This guy once told her "You know, I'm not into fat chicks, but I'd still do you" and she melted for it. There are some weekends where Mario (bro-in-law) goes up to the house to watch the kids while she works, and she won't show up untill 2 days later with no phonecall.
My sister is an incredibly shallow person with really low self esteem, so when her mother-of-2 fat ass starts getting attention from a single guy, she acts like a 14 year old with a crush and becomes obsessed.
I never want to be treated this way, and in turn never treat women like that. I treat women with total respect, and when I am with them they have my full focus. But I guess most women don't like that, or they're just repulsed by me, I don't know.

So I assume they're still married & your bro-in-law is still clueless?

They're still married only because my sister refuses to get a divorce.
My brother in law wised up though, he hasn't been living there full time for about 9 months.
The funny thing is that when the situation first came up they went to a couples counsler. Mario repeated everything I said to him to the therapist and the women said that he had a handle of the whole situation. When my sister was being painted as the bad guy (and the fact that it was her idea to go and she was the one who was labeled the problem) she refused to go back.
My sister is into is into new age slf-help stuff and had a semester of family councling that just wrapped up at the time and the therapist pretty much laughed in her face when my sister gave her "diagnosis".
So any ladies single on this board? I need to meet someone.

Trying to use this message board to get yourself a date?
For shame.
At the very least you could have tried a more original gimmick.

Now to be on topic for once...I always thought that marriage was something i wanted but the way that i am now coming to terms with the generalized feel for the tradition can be summed up in one word...bullshit. Right now, in this point in time i feel there are way too many ties that come along with something that was meant to be so simple and personal between two people who share a love for eachother. I think marriages are so defunct nowadays partly has to do with all the overexposure and pressure put on the act itself.
I think that's true, but it could also very well be a case of how much the times truly have changed.
When our folks were growing up (or even moreso, in our grandparents' time), marriage could be seen as a combining of provisions. Not to become overly sexist or anything, but the man would provide financial security, and the woman would provide care of the household.
But our generation has seen the rise of the true independent, both in men and women. Remember, it was not that long ago that women were fully measured by how well they married (that is, if their husband was a good provider), but now a woman does not need be defined this way. Marriage then becomes a matter of convenience, as opposed to necessity. And there is always that lingering thought in both spouses' minds that, should things not work out, it's ok because they can provide for themselves.
How else to explain why the divorce rate just about equals the marriage rate around 50%? Financially, emotionally, people are capable of sustaining their own existences, to the point where they see nothing wrong with abandoning what is supposed to be a lifetime merger of financial and emotional support.

Interesting angle, Brain. I never looked at it that way, but it really is true. As we get more and more independent, we "need" a long-term someone less and less.

This is true. My parents are in their mid sixties. My mother and grandmother went to a bank to get a loan so she could go to college. The guy at the bank seriously said 'you don't need to go to college just find one of these young college boys that's gonna make a lotta money.' She grew up ten miles from Notre Dame and my dad is a Notre Dame grad. So in part she took the guys advice because she couldnt get the loan. At the same time she is a workaholic and provides a good portion of the income herself.
The things they tell me about living in that area back then are pretty fucked up. The sentiment from the administrators at ND (which at the time was an all guys school) was stay away from the local women. They just want to latch on to someone that is going to be making good money in the future.
