I don't think I'm lobbying for Wackbag: The Sequel here.
But god damn man, you should at least have people in place that actually enjoy talking about the show. (and HELL NO I'm NOT nominating myself for reinstatement)
You may not be worried about it (as well as you shouldn't) but the lack of participation around here almost conveys to others that you've merely given up. And, if members aren't contributing then at least the staff here should.
But, thats part of the problem; some of your appointed staff didn't give a shit about the show, they never did. All they cared about was feeling big in an otherwise small world.
You chose those you knew and were comfortable with but not those who were best suited for the job of at least helping this place feel like it was a site for fans of the show. And when others did try to talk the show up or welcome any new members that were looking to contribute in their own (albeit possibly awful) ways, words like "kissass" and "nicey nice bullshit" would come up, killing any sense of momentum towards getting new members here.
I would never want a site to be as controlled as Wackbag is but at least when you go there, you KNOW you're surrounded by fans of the show - this place never conveyed that feeling as effectively as Wackbag or even SoA.net did. (and SoA was a pretty sad place traffic-wise but if you were to post anything negative about the show, you'd get jumped on immediately by the few and faithful that remained; there was/is a true sense of protecting the show there.)
It felt so god damn taboo to even talk about show here. Take a look at the posting counts of the The End forum vs. Off Topical or whatever.
Thats a hard-to-ignore problem, IMO.
You cleaned up that awful mess a few months back re: Opies' dad and one of your mods posting such awful bullshit...for what? for this? for tumbleweeds?
It makes no sense to me. I know you care about this place, if you didn't you would have shut this place down already, I'm sure of it.
Its just a shame you don't have others in your staff that are on your side.
Your own staff left this place out to dry...the same staff that was more into proving they had the best chops and wit and material...but never ever gave a true damn about the show. Or, quite simply, couldn't put the time in to help this place move. (life happens, its understandable)
And no, I'm not talking about the ENTIRE staff...just a couple of folks.
and you know what they say - it only takes one rotten apple to ruin the bunch.
