Hell, Shakespeare has been dead for roughly 400 years, and we <i>still</i> rehash his plays ad nauseum, and even update them (for better or worse) to the modern era.
Sorry, but their deaths in these cases are meaningless. Their accomplishments have created their immortality for them.
Yeah but:
1) No one is putting Shakespeare on stage anymore
2) Shakespeare sucks
3) Sinatra? Italians, the original wannabes
