LOS ANGELES (AP) - Corporate synergy is paying off for MTV. It will produce the halftime show for the 2004 Super Bowl airing on CBS.
The network and the cable channel are owned by Viacom. MTV produced the halftime show for the 2001 Super Bowl, which also aired on CBS and featured Aerosmith, 'N Sync, Britney Spears, Nelly and Mary J. Blige.
\"We plan on even more unexpected music performances that will go down in halftime history,\" Van Toffler, president of MTV and MTV2, said in a statement Monday. The performers were not announced.
America Online is the halftime sponsor.
The Super Bowl will be held Feb. 1 in Houston.
