Hogan: Tokyo Dome bound???
#1
Credit to Stuart's Strong Style Website.

-This was reported on September 12th.
Masahiro Chono today returned to Japan from America, where he held direct talks with "Superman" Hulk Hogan regarding participation on New Japan's upcoming Tokyo Dome convention. Chono didn't reveal too much, but did say the important words, "He was responsive", which indicates that talks were successful to some extent. Chono said, "If possible, I want to fight Hogan in a singles match.", although didn't rule out a tag bout. Chono revealed that he went only to represent New Japan in talks, and that he himself is wary about the possibility of Hogan in New Japan. Talks are not complete yet, with money and other issues yet to be finalized before this dream summit can be realized.

Reported today September 16th

-Chono (who turns 40 today) said in New Japan's metropolitan office today, "The probability that Hogan will come to the [Tokyo] Dome is 90%", and re-expressed his interest in a singles match with the gaijin legend. When Chono returned from America days ago, he listed the chances of Hogan participation at 50/50, but seemingly talks have improved, with Hogan now likely to appear at "ULTIMATE CRUSH II". Chono revealed that Hogan is considering a singles match and gets to name his own opponent. Chono acknowledged Sakaguchi's desire to be involved in a match with Hogan in some form though, so may try to set up a tag. Chono said that the Tokyo Dome show would be a generation festival for New Japan, with involvement from members of many different New Japan generations, right back to the start and all the way to the present.

I already know what you're all gonna say: "Fuck Hogan, the match will suck." Well that's not what's important right now. Hogan was one of New Japan Pro-Wrestling's top foreigners throughout the years of 1980-1985, and his return alone has a chance sell out the 65,000 seat stadium (which NJPW is having trouble doing as of late). And with Antonio Inoki teasing a return on the same show and possibly the same match, this appears to be one of the most star-studded wrestling rallies in its illustrious history (Also due to the fact that Antonio Inoki is like a god in Japan)

Superman? Is that what they call Hogan over in Japan?

Hair falling out faster than a speeding bullet! Ego more powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap over several wrestlers more deserving of a push in a single bound! :grin2:

You forgot the next part:

SUPERMAN! Who can change the course of many storylines in his favor! Bend young wrestlers' careers in his bare hands! And who, disguised as Terry Bollea (sp?), juiced up "performer" for a formerly great metropolitan industry, fights a never-ending battle for Hulkamaniacs, vitamins, and that last big-ass contract payday!

Well this thread went nowhere fast, thanks.

For what it's worth, it's official; Hogan will wrestle Masahiro Chono on October 13th, 2003.

Sorry, but no offense dude, you are probably the only member here that knows anything about Japanese wrestling. Kinda hard for any one else to contribute much.

I did ask a question though in my first post that was legit. I really wanted a serious answer to it.

Hey, at least we didn't say:

Big Grin

I do apologize, though. Sometimes my silliness tends to get the better of me.

I think I'm the one who should apologize. I really did not mean any anger in that reply, I just hate using smilies so I guess that's why it came off as me being bitter or something.

And Mr. Moosen, yes Hogan's nickname in Japan is "Superman".
