Ultimate Albums Revisited
#1
A while back I put up a thread about this VH-1 Ultimate Albums Series. It's like a Behind the Music about an artists' particular album. So far, the ones I've seen I can agree with. Pyromania by Def Leppard, Bat out of Hell by Meatloaf. There were one or two that left me scratching my head, like Nellys' Country Grammar, it's the guys first album if I ain't mistaken, so how could it be the Ultimate Album?? He's probably got better coming. But anyway I digress.
Take your favorite band and tell me what you think is that bands' Ultimate Album.
Funny enough two of my favorites have been profiled. KISS for Alive, which may have showcased how good they were live(although I was really disappointed in some of the stuff I learned, dubbing over tracks, amping the crowd noise) and Metallicas' Black Album.

My Ultimates for these two bands, Destroyer by KISS (1976) There's maybe one bad song on the album and they took a bit of a risk with some of the stuff they did. Piano and strings for Beth, the car driving and crash in Detroit Rock City, along with Gene Simmons reading a phony news report in the beginning. Two little kids with miked helmets running around making noises, for God of Thunder, Harlem Boys Choir in Great Expectations. Almost every song on this album is a part of the KISS live show, or at least it was the last time I saw them 3 years ago.

Metallica Ride the Lightning (1984) Some of Metallicas biggest classics and live show signature songs are on this album. For Whom the Bell Tolls, Creeping Death, Fade to Black. It's probably the heaviest of the first three Metallica Albums. It also showcases the phenomenal bass playing of the late Cliff Burton. Although not as much as Orion on Master of Puppets.

So what's your Ultimate Album by your favorite band....Discuss.
I'm not quite there yet

H2O's 'FTTW'(1999) is probably my ultimate album. Toby Morse has to be the absolute greatest lyricist around. Hes very inspirational. 'One Life, One Chance' is frontrunner for my all time favorite song. Despite the pretty hardcore beats to almost every song the lyrics still say upbeat. You cant lose anything by listeneing to this album and i strongly suggest everyone picks this CD up.
Good morning heartache, your like an old friend, come and see me again - Rancid

Life's a train i barely caught just to find out i ain't got the fare. -Bouncing Souls

my family looks out for me,
like friends our story never ends.
we've run into the fire and somehow water comes to save us.
there are so few we can depend on,
with blood there is an honor.
we act like we don't care,
but it's so deep inside - H2O
