I guess unless you are a major airline, security is not important

we could use 'em to find dirty dominicans under the kiddie pool as well Smile

in that case, fuck those scanners.

:moon:
Yeah, why would we need those scanners anyway when we have experts like this keeping us safe from the terrorists.

...was shipped somewhere, in a crate.

Is this reality, or the movie Trading Places?

there was a thing on dateline or one of those things how they don't check freight which takes up a large part of domestic flight cargo space. i flew recently and commented to my mum how now you always have to take your checked luggage over to the xray machine, i thought they just put them out there for reassurance, but apparently they didn't used to do that, even after the panam flight that exploded over lockerbie. it's amazing to me that anything can be loaded onto a passenger airplane without being checked.

my uncle was a pilot for ba for years and i've heard stories of the fbi/cia and such handing packages to the pilot on the runway and then being picked up by agents at the other end. so it wouldn't go through customs, but the fact that shit can basically be airmailed with no checking blows my mind. and my cousin who now lives in amsterdam (son of the pilot) won't fly at all, he takes a 6 hour ferry back to england to visit his parents, can't say i blame him.

it's fucked up, and people try and tell me i shoudn't be scared of flying...

The sad reality of it all is it's going to have to take another 9/11 to really wake some of these assholes up.
Yeah, as if the first one wasn't enough. :disappointed:

no, the sad truth is, some people won't ever wake up.

they weren't xraying every single thing that went on a plane after the panam flight and they still weren't 2 years ago, and if it costs money that they don't have it won't ever happen.

What a fucking tool. It's a blessing, not unfortunate, they should be thanking his black ass for pointing out their stupidity.

Flock, that picture is just too hysterical. I only wish someone could photoshop star jones in there.

OK, so this guy didn't need food or a bathroom the entire trip. I mean, even if he loaded up on chicken wings, the second problem would still come into play.

Exactly. Unless the government cracks down and says they MUST put the right measures in place - which, of course, they're not gonna do - it'll never get done.

Another terrorist act will only do one thing.... make everyone security crazy for 6-12 months, then they all forget everything and it goes back to normal.... just like it has.

And the security measures that they DO currently insist on, are fucking ridiculous. They harp on the useless shit, instead of being smart.

Like one time, I was picking someone up from the airport, and I decided to take a picture of the REALLY stupid sign that lists the items you're not allowed to take on the plane. Someone came over to me to tell me I wasn't allowed to point a camera towards the metal detector area. She left her post at the metal detector to tell me this. She was the only one on duty there at the time (sometime after 11pm).

So why wasn't I allowed to take a picture? In case I wanted to show some terrorists just how secure it's NOT?

I got 3 pictures anyway.

Problem is they're asking stupid people to be smart. That might be kind of harsh, but it's somewhat true. These jobs are very low paying, so most educated people aren't in these security positions.

This past July I went to Las Vegas for the week, when I hit security I did what was asked, and placed all my metal shit in that little cup thing before walking through the detector. In that cup was my key chain, which I had totally forgotten had one of those multi-purpose knife things, not a big knife or anything - but a knife, I kinda figured once I placed it in the cup I'd be losing it before getting on the plane and really had nobody to blame but myself for it.

Not a thing was said about it, fuck they didn't even look at it. My name isn't Mohammed and I don't wear sheets as clothes... but still.

The only thing that has really changed in the air since 9/11 is you no longer get a metal butter knife with your meal.
