Free pdf writer?
#1
At work we got one of these printer/scanner/copier/fax monstrosities. I am to scan in documents into pdf format. But I need a pdf writer to do so. My company's solution is for me to go out and buy Adobe Acrobat on my own dime and get reimbursed. I don't have that kind of spare cash floating around in my pocket.

I am currently downloading the free 30 day trial version of acrobat to buy me some time to pressure these fuckers into buying the software for us.

In the event that they don't come through are there any free pdf writing programs out there that I could use? All I could find was shareware shit that gives you a pdf file with a watermark on it.

Or should I just yell at our main office to flip the bill for adobe?

So you will have $500 on your credit card and you will get a check in 2 weeks. You don't see me bitching about $2,000 flights and $700 hotel stays that I'll get reimbursed for?

It's not spare, it's a loan. You can dip into your pot/rent money because you will get it back and soon (if you company is worth dick).

there is no acceptable substitute for Acrobat. Sorry. unless you go on kazaa and get a "tryout" version. always good to get a "tryout" version first...and maybe a good serial number to make sure you get to "try it out" properly. Wink

Then he could report the company for using illegal software when they fire his cheap whiney ass.

The scanner came with software that lets me create a jpg or bmp in paint or a wordpad or notepad document or several other file extensions that are not familiar to me. They prefer pdf so pdf is what I have to deliver.

The reason I whine about shelling out the money for the software is that it is past experience that my company will whine and moan and stall and drag their feet and it could be a month before I see this cash. I paid the 35 bucks for the usb cable to use this thing and I'm not expecting to see that cash back anytime soon. Once the price gets over 50 bucks I'm not going to risk it.

Thanks for the advice on the trial version that's the avenue I'm taking thus far.
