Soriano to the Mets????
#11
We have a pretty well loaded up outfield right now, plus and outfielder who is overpaid and shitty(Cedeno) Timo, Cedeno and maybe Super Joe. Reyes is the future, I liked what I saw of him last year and think he's a vital part of what they need to get at least into contention. I am being realistic here in the sense that the Mets will not make the playoffs this year. Maybe 3rd in the NL East behind Atlanta and Philly. Florida gutted themselves like they did after 97, so I don't see them having a stellar year. But I don't see this deal going through. If it does, Mets fans will revolt.

Reyes will never be better than Soriano. Soriano is a special player. He's a 40/40 guy who will knock in 120 runs and hit .300

This is a no brainer. I'm a Mets fan and I make the deal if the Rangers are willing to do it.

2002
.300 / 39HR / 102RBI / 128 RUNS / 41 SB

2003
.290 / 38HR / 91RBI / 114 RUNS / 35 SB

those are some real nice numbers i don't see reyes ever coming close to. hank aaron said he's the second coming of roberto clemente

I'd still be surprised if they do it....I wanna see how Reyes pans out and not see him end up like all the other ex-Mets who went on to have great careers after leaving Shea...

its not going to happen. i wish it would cause landing Soriano would be the one good thing they did this past offseason.

we don't need bats right now.

we need pitching and defense.

Soriano would not provide us with either one.

Trade not needed. It's that simple.

actually...i agree 100% with Keyser. always go with the proven product. And put his ass in the outfield, too.

Bobby Bonilla was a "proven product"

As was Alomar.

and where did that get us?

Yeah, lets not sign anyone anymore cause Bobby Bonilla, Roberto Alomar, and Mo Vaughn were complete busts. Lets just forget about signing anyone ever again.

A-Rod, Vlad, and Soriano are all trades or aquisitions the Mets SHOULD have made if they had the chance. thats the difference here.

Yes they need pitching and defense, but if the Mets actually had a chance to aquire Soriano, you'd be a fool not to do it, I don't care how good Reyes is defensively. Soriano is a rare commodity.
