Apparently, upper management in my bureau has decided that the morale of the people that work for them means little or nothing. I'm not the only one who is getting promoted that had plans for next week. If I turn down the promotion I will be shooting myself in the foot by losing seniority to the others, and if I take the promotion, I am stepping on a landmine. Either way I am fucked. What bothers me more is I am letting down my girlfriend. Who took time off from work that she can't get back.
My management is like Nero, who fiddled while Rome burned. The job is a sinking ship and they have done no damage control. They kiss the asses of the uniformed fire personnel, while putting a boot in the asses of those they command. They wonder why sick leave is so high?? Look no further than the mirror. They wonder why people hate coming to work?? It's because they make it miserable for everyone else. I could go on but I'm wasting my breath....so in closing FUCK YOU to the self proclaimed best fire department in the world.
