Things to look forward to...(and 10 other topics too)
#78
I joined the first board because I loved their show when it was in Boston, I thought it was pretty good in NY, and then just went downhill.

Toward the end of their show, the board got real negative about the show because the show sucked, not because the posters were jerks. Ant flipped out because he was being bashed (well before any of the spaz stuff) and was being a little bitch about any complaints about the show.

I can't see how their show will be anything but worse now that it's on XM. The two things that just grated on me was their incessant need for wacky and zany contests. This will only increase, and become more used-car salesman like as they try and get people's money to sign up.

They will also think it really great to be unfettered by censorship, but that's what's funny about this type of show (I can't believe they're doing this on the radio). That's gone on satellite, so they're going to continuously top themselves with gross out / sex stuff. It became just pathetic and transparent.

They were best when they did what Stern has done for 20 years. Just sit and talk w/o a script. The more they plan, the more zany they get with their little catch-phrases, the worse the show.

And Opie's constant cackle just grates on me. He brings nothing to the show. Nothing. His schtick was less annoying than Norton's (how anyone finds him even remotely funny on the show is simply baffling) but still. All he did was his over-the-top bellowed laughter and his "angry guy" rants that were so forced.

But if it's "in" to shit on the show, I don't know that. I pretty much avoided the GD area for the last few months I was on the board and didn't even talk about it.
