This post will probably get me in trouble, yet I'll post it anyway in the interest of a serious discussion (fingers crossed). Perhaps I shall preface this by saying that I am very much heterosexual, thankyouverymuch.

I was born left-handed. I was left-handed until I was about three or four, and my mom basically "trained" me to be righty by witholding things (cookies, toys) unless I reached out with my right hand to get them. As a result, I am now right-handed.

Correlating it to your example, a kid born "gay" can be conditioned not to be that way anymore. That would make left-handedness (and, by extension to your argument, homosexuality), a <i>tendency</i> or <i>pre-disposition</i>, not a genetic trait, because you cannot alter genetics solely through conditional training.

Now, since we have shown that being gay is not genetic in nature, then gays technically have no right demanding unique acknowledgement for their sexual preference, as if it were akin to a skin color.

well, in a sense, yes. The majority of us humans are right handed. I didn't intend on using the word "anomoly" as a negative. Neo is an anomoly and he's the one who is destined to free the human race from the machines.

I used "anomoly" as in "not the popular preferred standard / choice / example" (right handedness, heterosexual preferences, etc. all "preferred standards"). For the most part, people don't choose to become lefthanded.

They just are. You find out in kindergarten if/when you needed to ask for "better scissors". And whenever you started liking "boys" or "girls", thats what you liked. Too bad society still maintains an environment where being gay IS looked down upon.

Do we judge you, all ye of the lefthanded people? Do we feel embarrassed to have lefthanded children? Is lefthanded programming too risque for daytime network t.v.?

All I know for sure is this:

That's the way I see it. As for the argument that it's unnatural because it doesn't allow for reproduction - maybe that's why it came to exist? It's nature's way of helping to deal with overpopulation, just less brutal than disease and war. Just a group of people predisposed NOT to further infest this planet with the spawn of their unwanted seed.

And homosexuality has been observed in other species besides humans. Are they the product of social pressure?
