I went to buy Shadow of the Colossus and saw this game used for 8 bucks. I'd heard good things about it so I bought it and now it's one of the greatest games I've ever played.
I just can't get past Star 8. Yet...
I played a little of Shadow and I like it and I'm gonna definetely go back to it, but that first Colossus killed me like 10 times.
But Katamari...damn...this is the perfect game to play after a couple of bong hits. I'm gonna wait to get the sequel until after I complete the first...

Yes. You start out picking up little shit like pushpins and paperclips, then as the ball gets bigger you start picking up bigger shit. Whoever thought up the concept for this game is a genius.

I saw a review of it on X-Play, and thought it looked kinda silly - much like that "pet the dog" game.
It is very silly. It's Japanese after all.
It's similar in play to something like Marble Madness where you have to be very particular in how you move with the added element of certain goals in a level, like making it as large as you can in a set amount of time or reaching an exact size as fast as you can.
It's good not only for it's presentation and gameplay, but also for it's originality. There are very few original games out there right now and that's mainly what makes it so enjoyable.
