gooch, which restaurant did you try it in? Chodorow's Kobe Club got ripped a new asshole in the NYT recently. Chodorow, pitched a fit and bought an ad basically saying that Bruni was an asshole and that he's starting his own blog to review restaurants that Bruni pans.

i had it on LI...we've been hitting the Zagat rated places to see if they are really "all that". Most have been, actually.

Grillfire in Rockville Centre for the American Kobe. Good swanky pub grub kind of place.

West End Cafe in Carle Place for the Japanese Kobe...which were done as sliders. I didn't do the full burger b/c we were ordering different appetizers...then again, i don't even know if they had the whole burger on the menu, come to think of it.

West End, as a restaurant is much better than Grillfire...but so popular it was impossible to get a seat without a reservation on a Sunday night even...so we ate at the bar.

Steaks: (non-kobe)
Steak-wise, in the city: Del Friscos (good), Gallaghers (old place and pricey), Keens (very good), Uncle Jacks, Nick and Stephs (crappy)

I've been looking to go to Striphouse and BLT. I have had Porter House New York Steakhouse at the Time Warner building recommended to me b/c of their Chili Rub steak.

I don't think I want to eat kobe anymore since it's relatively the same as eating veal, although kobe does taste good

you're loss. you're mom gets more left overs next time.
Galt Wrote:Old Homestead sucks. I hate it. The food wasn't good, the place was barron, and the waiters suck. Sparks has awesome food but a bland ambiance.

I've never been to Lugers because I don't go to Brooklyn, but I've been to Wolfgangs, and Ben & Jacks and I don't like the Luger-style of keeping strip/porterhouse.

I've been to S&W once it was laughably bad. I thought I was being punked. I've talked to other people and they hate them too.

The BLT places are good.

But seriously, Strip House is the best. Amazing strip. Amazing filet - not a big fan of any of the sides.

Dylan Prime is a real good date place if you want to go. intimate seating, girly drinks, dark, good food. Has these really good potato truffle things too.

strip house definitely is the best, went there for dinner with 3 friends last week.

the garlic fries are a good side.
We have a Morton's here.. nice place

Then there's Ruth Chris' steakhouse that charges about $50 for a potato.
hahahahah 50 for a potato, you are hilarious!

never actually cooked it myself, i just went with what they served me in the old cajun place by my house. blacked ostrich. it was salty. it was good.
The greatest cajun place on the east coast is in Massapequa, LI called Big Daddy's.
that was actually a line from a seinfeld episode, but play on.
