The book I have (in the link) teaches the "CAGED" system. Basicly, it's five basic finger patterns that you learn how to move up and down the frett board to create ALL the major chords, then how to move one or two fingers in each form to create all the other chords anywhere on the frett board. Same thing with scales. And it teaches how to link the scales to the chords which is the basis for all solos.

So, when I have all that memorized, I'll be able to play just about any chord anywhere on the frett board while playing any related scale. But that still doesn't show how to play a song.

I'll check out the EZ books. Sounds like simplified tablature. The hardest thing for me has always been trying to figure out the strum pattern and timing for playing rythm.
checked out that caged system ,jesus that complicated. there are much easier ways to learn the guitar, and alot more fun ways.
Anybody get some new good ones?
OLGA was great before the man tried to take them down.

Well, now that I'm back home, I'm going to dust off my guitar and try again to learn it. Caged + Tab = Me teaching me.

What's that quote? "Anyone who is self taught has a fool for a teacher"?
