I've been on the slingshot one that has the Gyroscope attached in the middle that spins around. Its a great ride, but I did it at Action Park before it closed (or was it shut down?). Man, if anyone here is from Jersey they know that Action Park had to be the most dangerous amusement park ever created. The rides were beyond unsafe and you heard about people getting hurt all the time. That was also kind of the allure of it, the risk is part of the excitement.
Quote:but alas, I don't remeber being that close to a parking lot
Those pics aren't pics from GA, but it's the same type of ride. You may have noticed the ocean in the background.

You can see the small elevated platform, the big arch you fly through, and the tower in the back with the winch on top.
Sean, the one you described was the second of Dent's pics. I love to watch people ride that thing, but can't bring myself to shell out $25 to ride it after paying over $40 to get in the damn park.
The scariest ride I have ever been on was at DisneyWorld...I can't remember the name, something like "The Alien Experience". You watch this little movie about people being able to transport to another planet, then go into another room where you sit down to watch the transport take place. What shows up in front of you is an alien, not the scientist who was supposed to be there. Anyway, scared the shit out of me. I wouldn't go on the ride again... They shot water at you when the alien killed someone nearby...you could feel the alien breathing down your back... Scared me to death....
Keyser, if you think Action Park was bad, check the records for the place as a ski area!! people died on a yearly basis up there...totally unsafe mountain!
Yeah, Kindred that was cool, a one time effect though. It was creepy being restrained knowing they were going to scare you but not knowing how.....

At Disney LAND I love the Indiana Jones Ride, one of the hybrid motion simulator rides that really goes places....(like the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom). Anyway there are some stunning visual effects.

The line is very cool.....Looks like an archeological dig, some hidden extras,
like one bamboo suppport brace that you can tug, it breaks and the ceiling starts to come down, there is a rope down a well that if you shake it the guy climbing it yells at you.
The Vernon Valley ski area? (now know as Mountain Creek)
Kindred - I remember that one. It scared the fuckin crap out of me. Pitch black dark. Speakers by your ear. They blow a mist of moisture at your neck as the alien sounds like he's approaching and breathing down your neck. Man! talk about having people's imagination and perception play mind games on them. You could have sworn the fucker was standing over you.

Too bad they shut that one down. now it's the Buzz Lightyear Ride which is cool for the kids. it's an interactive ride that lets you shoot lasers at targets as you ride around. They rig the scores so the kids beat the parents in a shoot out!
Grumpy I think you are wrong........

Alien Encounter was not removed for Buzz Lightyear....
at least not in Disney World.

Indiana Jones ride is the best in DisneyLand! The giant rock that comes rolling toward you....and then ducking out of the way at the last moment? Always gets the blood pumping! I went on that ride right after it opened and it was MUCH more jerky and thrashing than it is now. They toned that ride down a lot.

They closed the Alien ride?? As scary as it was, it was still a very cool experience. Not that I would EVER do it again.

I rode the Buzz Lightyear ride too which was cool. I kicked some major butt shooting at those targets....
I didn't find the Alien Experience to be that scary, but that's becasue someone told me the entire thing a few months before. Never thought I'd actually go there, so I let them.

What was really freaky was the "Drew Carry Sound Experience" at MGM Studios. They make you where these headphones while you watch Drew Carry as an undercover tv reporter/detective. Several times, the lights go out and all you do is listen. Sounds like stuff is happening all around you. The hair-cut and the bees had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up.
ken - I was gonna give you shit for your wrong response but I just checked the disney site. damn it if you're not right. it doesn't matter though, You're still an asshole!
the worst ride was body wars. i dont remember if it was at epcot or mgm, but it was a simulated ride through the human body. the visuals were fine, but the way they had the seats moving, everyone got sick
i dont have one i think is the best, but most of the ones at great advesture are good, medusa kicks ass. I was suprised at how smooth it went. freefall still rocks.
Was anyone else wondering if Rape would tell us how many orgasms she had on Body Wars?
i loved body wars!!(epcot) also the back to the future ride at universal. simulators rule!!
I agree with Rape though.... Body Wars was too herky jerky because of the blood flow....
Star Tours was a much better and smoother ride.
Spiderman at Islands of Adventure is the best ride I've ever been on. The 3D effects are stunning. The feeling of falling, even though you're not, is great. I also love roller coasters The Hulk is good. Haven't been on Nitro yet, but I will this summer. Wooden coasters are good too.
I love Rolling Thunder, but the last time I went to GA, they had the first rows roped off so you couldn't sit in them! And then it broke down right before we went on it....it's getting more and more unstable, I think, but it still rocks!!!

If you haven't been on NITRO, make it your first stop, that ride is amazing. It doesn't even have any loops, but that first drop is awesome!

I also love Freefall, but that always breaks down too :-(
I remember standing up in the front seat of rolling thunder and getting that flying feeling......
ahhhhh to be young and stupid.
the hulk and the spiderman ride at islands of adventure are both FUCKING AWESOME! i rode both like 5 times each while i was there. the shockwave is cool because you stand up on it. theres a coaster at bush gardens in florida that is really cool, and all three in the one in virginia are good. im a BIG coaster fan.
