Someone was asking me if there's a way that they can get a software popup on a computer that is on stupid dialup that will tell me when someone is calling? Also wiould allow me to disconnect from the Internet and let me answer the call.

This isn't for me. I have DSL, but some poor dumb person.

Thanks
Of course man, we all understand, it's "for a friend".
Galt, I am only going to say this once - We ain't partners, we ain't brothers, we ain't friends...
I don't get it.

Seriously though, it's for someone else: a hot chick, let's say.

If you give me the correct information, she'll blow one of us.
Yes
Actually, I used to have something just like this. It was an internet answering machine,Call Wave. When someone called,my computer would ring and I would get a pop-up with the # of the person who was calling, thenthey would be able to leave a message and it would play the message right over the pc. Then, if I wanted I could sign off and call them back. Also, Tigerdirect.com, has something where you can be on-line and answer the call at the same time, it says, it puts the internet on "hold" for like 90 seconds or something like that. I hope that helps.
get cable
You don't have to use a dial-up to take advantage of the callerID firmware that exists in most modems. You just have to hook up a phone line to it. There's a program called CallerID Pro that will pop the number up on your monitor when you receive a call.

I don't think it will work while you're using your dial-up connection.
