I've cheated in the franchise mode of Madden in a variety of ways so as to get the upper hand against my roommates:
padding stats
turned down the setting of the game
lengthened the quarters
taken time outs for the computer
played as the computer to ensure a bunch of sacks, interceptions, and tackles
re-ordered the computer's roster so I can play against all scrubs
fixing the draft
Intentionally lose games so I get a good draft pick
simulating 5 years ahead to see who progresses the most
changing the names of players so I mark which ones I want
simulating the draft to find out what players will be available.

Pick free agents up just to trade them
resetting the game if one of my players gets hurt
