He does get off on bumbling rants in many phases of the book but he does make some valid points in reality, especially about the working man and the economy and schools.
Plus if you read closely you will notice much of what he says about art, music, movies, etc is very similar to the shit these religious fanatics and PC fucks rant about today.
Then again as hard as I tried not to sully such genius with Gomez's name, he stuck his shylock nose in anyway.
