It's easy to grin
When your ship comes in
And you've got the stock market beat
But the man worthwhile
Is the man who can smile
When his shorts aren't too tight in the seat.

Quote:If it's left on long enough it will eat away the paint.

So would orange juice. So would tea. So would milk.

It's the acid in each substance.

- Galt - 08-13-2003

isn't milk a base?

- Goatweed - 08-13-2003

I don't think milk is or has an acid in it.

- PlasticMan - 08-14-2003

Doesn't it have lactic acid (i.e. lactose intolerant) in it?

- IrishAlkey - 08-14-2003

It has acid rain in it.

- Doc - 08-14-2003

The presence of lactic acid in milk is due to the fermentation of lactose - a suguar - caused mainly by lactic bacteria. Generally speaking, just-milked milk does not contain lactic acid, but this increases after awhile and its concentration is closely correlated to the total bacterial charge. Thus lactate can be used as an indicator of milk's hygienic quality and of its state of preservation. So as milk gets old, say by being on the hood of a car in August, it bacteria make it more acidic
