I'm so scared.

How many hours did it take you to get a cookie?

- diceisgod - 12-27-2003

I don't have an hour counter on me. So anyway how do I get my mic to work properly?

- Mad - 12-27-2003

Put your PS2 into the DMZ setting within your router.

Or go here and they show you all there is to know about them.

did you sit on the mute button or hit it accidentally?

DO NOT MAKE your PS2 a DMZ use port fowarding instead.

- diceisgod - 12-30-2003

What exact ports do you have to open to get this fucker to work right? On the site Mad links it talks about WinMX and it shows two different port numbers, whatever the fuck that's supposed to mean. And the news section of SOCOM online says dick about all this. WTF. All I want is to play this stupid fucking game.

- Mad - 12-30-2003

SOCOM 2 Router Info

If you can figure out which ports to forward, more power to you.

- diceisgod - 12-30-2003

That is just fucking absurd. I'll just forward the two he mentions and the hell with all that other deviltry.

- LZMF1 - 12-30-2003

i used port 5010

- diceisgod - 12-31-2003

StonerNitWit: i dunno i think its because my port is not open
deadlaughter2: nope
deadlaughter2: you mean on madden or AOL IM?
StonerNitWit: i dont wana really fuck with it or i wont be able to play socom
StonerNitWit: madden
deadlaughter2: ok...it might be that...but i don't know why it'AOL's IM talk isn't working
StonerNitWit: that sy when u did that i cant hear u on socom anymore. u can only hear the people who have done it also
StonerNitWit: u know what i mean
StonerNitWit: if i opened the same port i would be able to hear u
StonerNitWit: but not every1 else thta doesnt have it opened
deadlaughter2: yeah...i'll open them up next time i'm around if the computer isn't be8ing used
StonerNitWit: yeah but if u open them up i wont be able ti=o hear my clan at all
StonerNitWit: unless they all do it
StonerNitWit: u know whta i mean
deadlaughter2: if you think so...i wont open them unless you tell me to
StonerNitWit: remember i told u bout madden 1 of us have to open that port to connect
StonerNitWit: but now u cnat hear the majority unless they all do it
StonerNitWit: if u closed it we could hear each other on aim etc
StonerNitWit: everything but madden
StonerNitWit: when we payed that we would both have to open it up to play and talk
deadlaughter2: that port was open when we were talking before
StonerNitWit: try to close it real quick isit easy
StonerNitWit: and i bet we connect on aim
StonerNitWit: talk
deadlaughter2: that port was open before when we were talking
StonerNitWit: whatever u did shut down talk i dunno what u did, but thats y u can t hear ne 1 on socom dude
deadlaughter2: ugh...i did nothing
StonerNitWit: i though u said u opened a port
StonerNitWit: to play madden

StonerNitWit: i though it was like and on off switch
deadlaughter2: dude...we were talking before on here earlier remember?
deadlaughter2: i did nothing in between then
StonerNitWit: not through ps2 or ur mic
StonerNitWit: was it
deadlaughter2: it's not the port i opened
deadlaughter2: it shouldn't matter...the last couple time i tried to talk with you the mic wasn't plugged in and still ddn't work
StonerNitWit: im trying to send u 1
deadlaughter2: ok
deadlaughter2: it must be on there end
StonerNitWit: r u doing the same thing as earlier
deadlaughter2: yep
StonerNitWit: r u using ps2 mic?
deadlaughter2: nope....i'm doing the same thing i did when we connected earlier
StonerNitWit: u send me 1
deadlaughter2: k
deadlaughter2: it's not us or our routers ...it's AOL that's the problem
StonerNitWit: k
StonerNitWit: but how come u cnat hear ne 1 on socom
StonerNitWit: the only people u can hear r the ones who have opened the port, but the majority have it set up like mine i guess
deadlaughter2: that's the million dollar question amnd there is no simple answer

- Mad - 01-01-2004

Well, did you ever figure it out?

- diceisgod - 01-01-2004

I played for about an hour today. I didn't hear one fucking word nor could I say one in any of the games I was in.

- Mad - 01-01-2004

Does the Mic work in single player?

Try plugging it into the other USB slot and updating the router firmware.

- Mad - 01-02-2004

1. update firmware
2. forward ports 6000-6999 UDP
3. enable ps2 as DMZ

if 2 and 3 should fail.... MAKE SURE that SPI is disabled (found in linksys filter options)

if SPI is enabled...then port forwarding and DMZ is ineffective

- LZMF1 - 01-02-2004

mad...the only reason i told him not to make the PS2 a DMZ is that it will get pinged like crazy and it could actually cause him to lag like a fiend...all of that unwanted traffic will slow his shit down. port forwarding is the way to go :thumbs-up:

- Goatweed - 01-03-2004

so, how exactly do I get the PS2 IP addy? does the PS2 need to be logged in online?

once I get that, the port forwarding is simple.

- LZMF1 - 01-03-2004

SOCOM 2 ranking explained this is totally sidetracking but i figured i'd post it here

ok....goat i'm running XP.....here's what i did....check your network connections and click on "internet connections"

it'll take a second but then a window will open up and it'll have one tab at the top that says "general" click on the settings button and everything that is connected to your router will be listed.... then you just gotta figure out which one is your PS2. i use an MN-500 router and it made it very easy because microsoft products (XBOX) are cleary identified everything else is just listed as a few letters and numbers.

to get the addy you just gotta click on each one listed and then click "edit" so you can see the #.

:high five:

Quote:ok....goat i'm running XP.....here's what i did....check your network connections and click on "internet connections"

within windows, "My Network Places" ? I don't see Internet Connections"

- LZMF1 - 01-04-2004

in explicit terms:

click on "start" located in the bottom left hand side of your desktop

click on my computer

(assuming that you're running XP) you have those 3 little windows on the left 1 that says "system tasks" 1 that says "other places" and finally one that says "details"

well..... you want the one that says "other places".....in that window the 1st item listed should say "my network places"

ok...here it's just like it was in the last step only the 1st little window on the left says "network tasks" and there will be 4 things listed there......you're gonna want to click the one that says "view network connections"

there you will see

internet gateway

internet connection

LAN or high-speed internet

1394 connection

local area network

i think you can take it from there....back to you rusty.
