no draft?

- Charles Manson - 12-30-2006

what draft?

- Keyser Soze - 12-30-2006

someone suggested we have a draft to pick our death pool picks.

- GonzoStyle - 12-30-2006

no fuckin ziti?!?!?!

OHHHH!!!!

A draft sounds complicated and time consuming. Much easier I think to just pick and rank and not worry about other people showing up and all the other bullshit associated with processes that involve and depend on more than just one person. People can just make their picks whenever they want, done, and bye bye back to youtube.

- Hoon - 12-30-2006

I think if paperboy's ranking method was adopted, it would negate the need for a draft because several people can have the same individuals in their list.

the draft would only be needed if you decided not to have duplicate picks.

- Keyser Soze - 12-30-2006

paperboy rules it is!

- Charles Manson - 12-30-2006

Still lots of voting to be done. Those rules will nullify the age rule but if that's what the people want then by gum, that's what they shall get!

- drusilla - 12-30-2006

i like the age rule

- Hoon - 12-30-2006

i agree. i joined the 2006 pool late in the year and it took me a fucking hour to look through everyone's picks to make sure i didn't have duplicates.

if i may suggest something...
whoever starts the thread, maybe post the rules or whatever you do in the opening post, then reserve the second post in the thread to keep a tally of everyone's picks as they make them on whatever page. that way, everyone knows right where the tally is and doesn't have to search through 10 pages to find out of someone finally tallyed them.

it's how i've ran the football pool on another board.
here's an example of the week #17 football picks.
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://65.98.70.42/~brokenja/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=7;t=18">http://65.98.70.42/~brokenja/cgi-bin/ik ... T;f=7;t=18</a><!-- m -->

see, no matter how many pages it grows, the tally is always in the second post. this doesn't pertain but since we're on the subject, i also keep a locked thread that tallys everyones yearly cumulative stats, detailing each week, the yearly totals and percentages even.
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://65.98.70.42/~brokenja/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=7;t=1">http://65.98.70.42/~brokenja/cgi-bin/ik ... ST;f=7;t=1</a><!-- m -->

or you can just give me the second post in the thread and i'll just keep editing it to gather everyones picks. sorry, it's an organizational obsession thing.
or you can just tell me to go fuck myself.

- Paper Boy - 12-30-2006

oh my god, i may have actually added something to the board. i am so proud of myself right now.

- The Sleeper - 12-30-2006

i like the hundred minus age rule the best

- Charles Manson - 12-30-2006

we shall endeavor to increase operational efficiency should the old rules stand, and your links don't work for nonmembers but i think i understand

- Keyser Soze - 12-30-2006

i dont see why you cant have the age rule as well

- drusilla - 12-30-2006

that's a lot of thinking

- Hoon - 12-30-2006

the age rule is good too.
consider opting for paper boys rules but for every ten years closest to 100 years of age you lose a point.

for instance:

if your #1 pick dies you get 10 pts.
if he's 90 you lose 9 pts kncoking you 1 pt.
if he's 80 you lose 8 pts knocking you 2 pts.
if he's 20 you lose 2 pts knocking you 8 pts.

etc, etc. otherwise everyone's going to have a Dick Clark for their #1 pick.

- Charles Manson - 12-30-2006

Explain how it would work and if reasonable we can have the age rule as well! Hell, I'm an easy fella!

- Charles Manson - 12-30-2006

Since duplication would be permitted I would think the age bonuses or deductions would just cancel themselves out for people that happen to have the same one. I dunno, this sounds complicated so far and I don't like complicated.
